Gili Divers Hotel

Hotel: 650k / night to stay here if you also dive. Compared to 900k/ night at Mango or 950k elsewhere if you stay there. I really like Suki the receptionist. Clean room and bathroom was very clean. Shower pressure was passable, temp was great. The sliding doors don't close all the way, so the smoke from people smoking on the balcony comes in my room. The balcony is also shared, so my clothes that I want to hang to dry will also smell smokey. I would recommend they make the balcony non-smoking for these reasons.I got a 15% discount at the restaurant across the street for staying here, which was nice. It's a bit of a rowdy hotel which isn't my style, so I actually recommend Mango's if you can afford it, the facilities were comparably better and had a much calmer atmosphere + breakfast included. Still a good place to stay and dive nonetheless.Diving: I did my adventure deep certificate + a fun dive. Adventure deep with Frank was great. He will ask you questions about diving protocols which really tests your knowledge and makes you learn. He will always give as much information as possible and explain corrections to diving techniques or equipment. It seems like he really wants to help you be a good diver. He helped me fill out my SSI log with all of the creatures we saw which added another level to my experience and helped me learn.I did my fun dive with Henrick. He was not particularly great. His vibe was a bit impatient with me when I wanted to try on the fins and mask before leaving. When we were on the boat he was frustrated I put my fins on early. He paired us up together for the dive. We were supposed to buddy check with each other. He didn't buddy check me personally, but I noticed he just watched me do my own ABCD and check my own equipment. I didn't realize until later, but I didn't have a buddy check on my tank straps. Not a good idea. I have also only done 6 dives (very new), which he knew, so that was not a good idea to not personally check me. He also didn't have me buddy check him. I know I'm a new diver but that's somewhat rude in principle. Also if something goes wrong underwater I should be familiar with his equipment, so that was not a good idea. I also couldn't find him after the dive to log the dive and I did not have my own computer to do it myself, which is a bit disappointing my dive is unverified. All around he seemed a bit impatient and almost as if he just wanted to dive for himself for fun, and I'm a bit concerned about his priorities for equipment safety.

Edo was great as an instructor for my first dive, attentive to every aspect and kind and precise!! The rooms are small, yes, so what? They are perfect for the purpose! The environment is super relaxing and is exactly in front of the sea and in front of a delicious restaurant! All perfect!! Keep it up guys!!
