Just stayed at Katang Katang for 10 days/9 nights while in Bali. Upon arrival, there seemed to be confusion over our booking, as someone else was supposedly in the room we were staying in. This confused me as we had booked this stay months in advance, so i would assume that they would be prepared for us. But we were put in a different room, but told we would be moving rooms at some point, this never happened, which was frustrating as we didn’t want to fully unpack incase we were asked to move. It would’ve been nice to be able to talk to a member of staff during this, but there seems to be no form of front desk, as there was never any staff around. The only time i saw a staff member, was a gardener and a cleaner. Speaking of a cleaner, we were told we could opt in or out of daily cleans. But as there was no member of staff available to confirm how we do this, we would either leave our door locked or unlocked. We left our door unlocked on multiple occasions, but our room wasn’t cleaned until the 6th night. So it took 6 days until we got clean bedding, clean towels, more toilet paper. And i tried to find someone to ask for more towels or other things, but like i said, no one was around. The cleaning issue wouldn’t have been so bad if they didn’t have an ant problem. There were thousands of ants in our room. So many dead and alive ones in the corners of the room, in the bathroom and on the bed. There were also cockroaches on a few occasions, i’m assuming as the bathroom is an outdoor bathroom, so more bugs can get in. The outdoor bathroom was fine, limited hot water, but other then that it was absolutely fine.Another issue with the property, was the lack of sound protection. The guest house is clearly located near a popular venue, as there was a wedding and a couple of parties during our stay. Each of which had karaoke, music and chatter. The room offered no insulation whatsoever. We could here every single thing so loudly. Additionally, there were chickens, roosters, dogs and cats that would cluck, bark and meow all night, and again, no noise insulation.Similarly, the location wasn’t the best. Taxi drivers didn’t appreciate coming down the narrow road to get to you, and even to go to the local beach, despite being about 3km away, would be a 30min drive due to Bali traffic, and would cost around 55,000 rupiah. I think you can definitely find somewhere with a more convenient location. My final small issue was the breakfast. I appreciate that they offer breakfast, but to call it a continental breakfast, and serve a few cereal and bread with spreads, is a bit mediocre. There was a toaster, but it didn’t work and always seemed to have lizards crawling around it.But, as for positives. The accommodation was very pretty. I liked having our own private space. The hotel has a drinking water fountain, which is very convenient and helpful. Delivery drivers found the location easily every time. It’s definitely a more affordable option compared to the rising prices in Bali. You are near the harbour that does day trips to nusa penida. Good AC. Decent Wi-fi.Probably wouldn’t book again, but don’t necessarily regret booking.
