ADJUST YOUR EXPECTATIONSBeach Homestay bungalows are what the name says. Ceiling and walls are open. Animals can go in and out. If you are ok with a more rough accommodation, and your thing is to go swimming close by, this could be an option.Pros:- [ ] Very beautiful place. Ornamental garden and pool.- [ ] Super close to the water and some coral. Waterfront.- [ ] 5min walk to blue lagoon- [ ] Fair breakfastCons:- [ ] Very hot. Terrible ventilation unless you sleep with the doors open- [ ] Shower and tap water are salty and did not smell good. Maybe from a well?- [ ] Open bungalow. I had a rat visiting on the ceiling just before I went to sleep. Neighbouring room was also visited.- [ ] WiFi is terrible. That is if you manage to connect at all. I had to use the next door restaurants.

The Padangbai Beach Homestay, has a great location close to the harbour and within walking distance of the fast boat jetty. The accommodation is slightly inside in a large compound, with bungalows ranged around a garden courtyard with a pool. The design is traditional Balinese with small wooden windows and wooden doors, high conical ceilings of cane mat with wooden rafters. The walls too are lined with cane mats, floor to ceiling. The ambience and design is authentically Bali. The spacious patio in front has comfortable padded chaise lounges and is a fine place to read or have a beer. The garden is full of birdsong, and a delight in itself. I'm not surprised that at least four of the bungalows had visitors staying for several days. The only bit of annoyance are the mosquitoes, so if you spray your room with a repellent in the evening or put on anti-mosquito lotion that would be a good idea.

Nice hotel with swimming pool and in front of the ferry but lack of cleanliness and terrible service. We were alone in the entire hotel and at 11 am they stood at the door so we could leave in a hurry. We left at 11.15 am and the lady who ran the place made us pay for an extra breakfast coffee before leaving the room, before even reaching the bar. By the way, the worst breakfast in Bali.

Well, this town no longer interests tourists, in my opinion.. and there’s nothing to see there, only diving and snorkeling.. and nothing to do there..
