Booking office Orangutang Trekking Sumatra & Lovely Jungle Lodge

We chose this accommodation including a 2-day jungle tour because of its good reviews and proximity to nature, but unfortunately in the end we cannot agree with the excellent reviews.In general, it should be emphasized that everyone, without exception, was very helpful and nice. Every question we had was answered patiently, we didn't feel like tourists and the food was really tasty and the Jungle Lodge really was a great place. We would have liked more transparency in the tours offered. We paid €90 (like everywhere including rafting) for the two-day tour. We booked a shared taxi through them, which also worked smoothly. But be careful that the shops the driver chooses don't rip you off. On the first day we spent several hours in the jungle with full meals and the two guides Youssep and Balu. Both of them really have a good eye for the numerous different monkeys and we also saw Urang Utans. We were expecting to do something similar on the second day, but that didn't happen when we asked. We walked just 10 minutes from the lodge to the river and drove back into town. That was the end. This isn't a two-day jungle tour, is it? Save yourself the money and book a one-day tour, but you'll end up with practically the same thing. Contact was broken off by the boss when asked. We had asked several times about organizing transport to Berastagi and were told that we should request this with Balu the day before. Balu then left us very early and said goodbye with a “see you later”. We never saw him again and had to arrange transport elsewhere. It's a real shame and we would have wished it had been different.

One of the best hostels I have stayed at, 20 minute walk out of town and up a slight hill, nestled into the jungle with a beautiful view. An experience I haven't had before and incredible, woken up by monkeys in the cabin in the morning. Staff are also incredibly friendly and helpful and the tours they run are great and well priced.Don't come here if you like luxury, but if you can handle not having a warm shower you will love it.

Beautiful jungle lodge experience with trekking. Saw plenty of orangutans after a long trek. Absolutely amazing guides who made the experience 10/10. Thanks Uddin, Geng and Joseph! Very friendly, accommodation and fun people who treated us like guests and not tourists. Perfect for any real traveller who wants a proper jungle experience. Good for families too.

The only authentic hotel in Bukit Lawang, surrounded by jungle, several minutes from the village, a little paradise.You wake up to a lovely sunrise and monkeys curious about your breakfast.Balu and his friends will be the perfect guides for your trip into the jungle in search of orangutans. (this is probably the best dish I was able to eat during my 1.5 months in Indonesia on the evening of our trek)Thanks again to Udin and his son Balu!

It’s incredible, my spoiled one! more seriously, incredible and above all authentic experience. we had the chance to see quite a few orangutans which is still the main reason for our visit. besides that, it’s exactly what we came for: ethical, authentic, particularly friendly hosts/guides and a pretty and (slightly) physical trekking route. the accommodations (pre-trek lodge and accommodation during the trek) are a little rustic but once again, and I repeat, this is what we were looking for! The food is also delicious. If I had to summarize: an authentic and rustic experience surrounded by friendly and passionate people. Thank you Udin, the boss, and Baloo, an exceptional guide who goes out of his way to give us the best experience with as many orangutans and other exotic creatures as possible.

If you’re coming to Bukit Lawang, and want a true jungle experience, do not hesitate : this place is the best !All the guesthouses and guides offer the same treks : 1, 2, 3 or more days in the jungle. They all have the same prices, and the treks are all the same, the camps in the jungle are shared…But what is different with this one is that Udin, the host, will take you to his lodge, in the middle of the forest. There are a few bungalows, built by him and his team, on a the hill, with an amazing view on the jungle ! You bungalow will be facing the sunrise, and you will already see some monkeys ! 🌄So here’s what to expect : when you arrive in Bukit Lawang (the cheapest way is taking the public bus from Medan, Pinang : Baris station : 25k IDR), text Udin on WhatsApp so he can come pick you up at the bus station or call a rickshaw for you, to take you to his house in the village.Once there, you can choose your trekking experience : they can do anything for you, (we went for two days, one night in the jungle, and rafting for 90 euros each, it was perfect ! ).Then you can pack a smaller bag, or leave some stuff at his house, because you will walk around twenty minutes to the lodge, and the next morning you can leave for the trek ! 🥾At the lodge, the food, water, coffee, tea are included, and got a second night for free when we came back from the trek ! 🍛Our guides were Balu (Udin’s son) and Sam, and Mahadi cooked for us at the camp during the trek. It was an unforgettable adventure, we saw all the monkey species we could see, Orang Utans, turtle, tucan…Couldn’t have wished a best place to stay and best team to trek with, thank you !!! 🥰That’s a long review but this place deserves it ! 🫶(Don’t forget to withdraw cash before coming : no atm in Bukit lawang, but you can still get cash with 6% fees)

Great experience in the jungle! We see lots of singles in the morning for breakfast. Cici and Yusup took us to discover the jungle! We had a great time with them. Great people and great times! Of course we saw orangutans!

Awesome experience! The trek was amazing, saw lots of orangatans, monkeys and other wildlife. The guides were very fun and knowledgeable. The sleeping area was so relaxing and the food was very good. Highly recommend if your looking for a true jungle experience.
