This is an amazing place to stay if you're looking for a peaceful island getaway. Very off the beaten track, with private beach access and quite far from the distraction/noise of towns. Shirley and Marcel are incredible hosts and expert guides, and they can happily help organise things to see and do in the area – and will personally accompany you. The bungalows are very clean and comfortable. Shirley is also an excellent cook, and food can be ordered from a delicious and very well priced menu. Sumba is a really special place, and so is Wajonata, thanks to Marcel and Shirley.Tip: When booking a ticket from DPS to Sumba, make sure you fly into Waingapu rather than Tambolaka!

There are two bungalows in a closed construction and two in a completely open construction, i.e. there are bamboo mats on the walls that you can pull up and down. The journey from Waingapu is very easy except for the last 2 km and you can get there relatively quickly, you don't necessarily need a driver from Sumba. We stayed in one of the open cabins and it was really beautifully furnished and very clean. Unfortunately, the biggest disadvantage is the beach, which is completely littered with rubbish. This could be the highlight of a stay at this place, but it isn't, you don't want to stay at this beach any longer. You can borrow a paddle board, but the pump doesn't work properly so it's not possible to inflate the board sufficiently, which was a shame. You can order simple Indonesian food at any time, as well as a cold Bintang. Ordering food like this can take 45 minutes or longer, although that's the case almost everywhere in Sumba.

Ibu Sherly is a very nice owner and she was always there to assist us with anything we needed.They cooked delicious and very affordable local food (Rp 50k/meal) and always had cold beers and fresh coconuts ready for us.Due to the seaweed farming the snorkeling wasn’t great but the beach and swimming is still nice.If you’re looking for a quiet place with a “end of the world” feel where you can enjoy a quiet relaxing time. This is your heaven!

Vey relaxing and comfortable bungalo with private beach access and Sherly the host is very sweet and helpful, we’ve spent 2 nights there her food is delicious. Will recommend this place hundred thousand times :)
