This place is the ultimate spot to drink coffee every morning you’re at sorake. The view is unmatched and it is so peaceful. They also offer a lot of convenient services such as money withdrawal, money exchange, and mobile phone top ups at very reasonable fees (the trip to the nearest town is 30 mins away and a bike rental will cost you much more than any fees they charge). But most importantly the family that runs this place is one of the most welcoming, honest and warm hearted families I met during a month stay in Nias. Everyday they were so happy to welcome me and greet me and make me feel comfortable - and if you spend any significant amount of time at sorake, you will realize unfortunately that many locals are just out to try scam you from money or make a profit. I never ever had this feeling with this family. The mama, grannie, papa and Ivo the son were all such genuine people. There’s a reason that so many people come back to this place, and it’s really because of the family and their friendly vibe. I will seriously miss this place 😊

The best place to stay in Nias! Just a 30-second walk to the wave, with a perfect view all day long. The food is amazing, and Eka, Rick, and the entire team are fantastic! They’re always ready to help with anything you need.

Shady Palm is the perfect place to stay in Sorake, right in front of the surf spot, Eka and Ricky family were amazing and friendly always helping and cooking great food, rooms confortable, with AC, bathrooms maybe need a bit care but all was great!! We will come back for sure 🌟

This place has bomb smoothie bowls, I dream about them every night and when I wake up… I am ready for one, along with their special hot cup of cappuccino. Mama Eka and her whole family accommodated my special dietary restrictions being Gluten Free, Egg and Peanut free… they really hooked me up!!! I often ate the Nasi Goreng, Chicken fillet, avocado salad, veggie curry… and I recommend all of these dishes. Not only is the food exceptionally delicious, the family is like a family away from home and I will definitely miss seeing their beautiful smiles everyday. Terima kasih and Sumpai Jumpa Shady Palm! I can’t wait to see you next time ;)))
