I've stayed at Uma Kalai as solo traveler during the course of 2 weeks. I've initially checked in for a couple of nights and upon my arrival I've decided to extend my stay for the remaining time of my trip in Bali. It is hard to leave this place!Uma Kalai is a private boutique hotel where you as a guest feel like you're on your own home away from home. The fact there's not many rooms and each room offers full privacy allow for you to feel the entire space is reserved for you and your own needs. If you have an awareness for architecture and interior design - the spaces are designed and curated so tastefully and modern while remaining cozy and very comfortable. Every room is different from each other so that makes it more of a private home rather than a hotel.During my 2 weeks here I've stayed at Vyoman and Jala Suite, both with their private terrace facing the breathtaking views of the jungle and rice fields of Sayan.The views of the rice fields are the most privileged in Sayan, Ubud. Being a regular client of 4 seasons Sayan and Bambu Indah - two of the old times resorts near the area - I have to admit the views at Uma are my favourite. Again - the fact you feel in such a private place - aka away from loud lobby music, loud group conversations, business of people-food and drinks - there's none of that here. So you can really immerse into the nature surroundings and enjoy it with no disturbance whatsoever while still enjoying of all the amenities of a 5 star hotel.The treatments at the Spa are excellent too. I recommend the balinese or deep tissue massage. Both Nonik and Yuni are magicians and will make you rejuvenate and recharge.Their gym have all you need for complete workouts and cardio sessions including reformer pilates - with air conditioning and a generous space to stretch.The staff - the service is above excellence. I've never received such care in a hotel before. Every person of the staff is here to make your experience as good as it can be. Their kindness is what you take back from this trip! Every one of them: Eka, Ade, Dicky, Gusti, Nana, Nonik, Yuni, Murni, Putu, Tu, Gusde, Dedi, Budiasih, Tunjung, Kadek and Yuda, Rana.Communication with Eka and Nana was smooth and so efficient at any time of the day. The staff did go run errands if needed anything in particular and would cook anything off menu in order to suit all food preferences.True refined luxury as you may not find it elsewhere - specially during the current times where Bali is getting busier and busier and where finding this type of personalised experience it is nearly impossible.I could not recommend this place enough!Thank you to all the team at Uma Kalai for this unforgettable days, thank you for welcoming me with the most delicious and thoughtful cake with my name on it! Who else does that? <3

We had an unforgettable three night stay at Uma Kalai!!The confidential hotel enjoys an exceptional panorama of the rice fields. The decoration of the hotel, the swimming pool, the lobby, the spa, everything is magnificent!And what about the level of service… we have never had that in any other hotel!! All the staff took great care of us, knew our first names. They are very attentive but at the same time discreet: a real luxury!They even offered us an offering course to better discover their Balinese culture. It was a real pleasure!A huge thank you to the housekeepers who clean the room twice a day, to the masseuses, and to the butlers Dicki, Gusti, Ade and Eka. You have an exceptional sense of service and hospitality!!! Many thanks for this enchanted parenthesis. We would like to come back as soon as possible :)

The attentive team made me feel as if I were staying at my family home.Uma Kalai is a gem nestled in the authentic village of Sayan. I loved the privacy of this boutique hotel, the delicious food rooted in the owner’s mother’s heritage, and the stunning views paired with a delightful breakfast. The standout aspect was the staff, who were incredibly attentive to every detail.I truly felt at home and would definitely return.A special mention to the team members:Dicky, Ade, Gusti, Eka, and Rana.

5 stars doesn’t do Uma Kalai justice! It deserves more! The view, the service, the staff could not be better. I doubt you will find a better hotel on Bali in this price range or even higher! Book now!
