I cannot express the profound disappointment that engulfed my stay at Villa Wirtiga in Canggu. What was touted as the epitome of a tranquil Bali retreat turned out to be a nightmare that shattered our dreams of a peaceful and luxurious getaway. We eagerly arrived at the villa, filled with excitement for the promised escape from the hustle and bustle of daily life. But alas, our dreams were swiftly shattered as we were awoken each morning at 8am by the incessant clamor of power tools. The piercing noise, echoing relentlessly until nightfall and, at times, even persisted into the night, tormenting us in our supposed sanctuary. To our utter dismay, our villa was situated right next to an active construction site, turning our private haven into a fishbowl. The construction workers had an unrestricted view into our courtyard, pool, and worst of all, our bathroom. The blatant invasion of our privacy left us feeling exposed and violated, robbing us of any semblance of tranquillity.Desperate to salvage what was left of our vacation, we sought solace outside the villa, only to be burdened with exorbitant expenses we hadn't accounted for. We were forced to seek refuge in busy beach clubs, desperately trying to escape the relentless noise and the gaping void of privacy. This was an agonizing departure from our vision of a serene and rejuvenating Bali experience.Adding insult to injury, the photos plastered across websites and promotional materials were nothing short of deceptive. They painted an idyllic picture of a beautifully appointed and meticulously maintained villa, far from the dilapidated reality that greeted us.As if the torment wasn't enough, we awoke each day with clusters of mysterious bites covering our bodies, unmistakably the ruthless work of bedbugs. The relentless noise and invasion of privacy were now accompanied by the physical discomfort and anxiety of battling these unwelcome pests. While we understand that development is a part of Canggu's landscape, the burden falls on the villa management to be transparent and responsible. It is their duty to inform and warn guests if such dire circumstances exist. At the very least, a significantly reduced rate should have been offered to compensate for the ordeal we endured. We were plunged into a maddening abyss of noise, shattered privacy, false advertising, and a potential health hazard. In the end, our stay at Villa Wirtiga was nothing short of a traumatic ordeal. The deafening construction noise, the complete lack of privacy, the deceptive representation, and the presence of bedbugs. I implore anyone considering this villa to think twice unless drastic improvements are made to rectify these issues.
