Room was ok, bed was comfortable. Bathroom had no sink and the toilet had to be flushed manually with a water bucket. Location and price were very good and the food from the restaurant was cheap and tasty. If you're on a budget this is a good spot!

We had lunch here and I would really recommend it to anyone looking for some excellent local food. The grilled fish, chicken curry and Gado Gado were delicious and the service was friendly and welcoming.

I spent 3 nights at Matahari Guesthouse with my boyfriend and it was fabulous. The room is quite big with fan and private bathroom. The bathroom is basic. But it is more than compensated by everything else! A tropical garden on the doorstep overlooking the lake (possibility to swim). The owner's family is lovely and very helpful. You can also enjoy the restaurant of the guesthouse (tested and approved). And finally the owners kindly took us to Tomok on the last day so that we could take the local bus.

Brilliant place, idyllic spot set in beautiful gardens right on the edge of the lake. The food in the restaurant is also excellent everything is freshly prepared by Elsa who is a great cook and a really good singer, singing as she prepares the food. We ate here every day, sometimes twice. There's a great selection of Indonesian food and western style breakfast dishes. Would love to come back. Thanks 🙂

Management change: Indo cuisine.(2022/23)No western 🇮🇹🇩🇪food anymore.If you want Piccata🍝 Milanese, Schnitzel, or Gulasch, the cook moved to SMILEYs, close to ROYs PUB. 😋

Spent the night in the homestay and I would advise you not to stay here. There are better places for the same price.There was no sink in the bathroom, hardly any water came out of the shower and the toilet did not flush properly. The bed had no duvet cover and the room was not clean.
