I am writing what is true to our experience, a one day staycation for a family of 12.First things first, let's talk about why I have to give this spot a 2-star rating instead of a 1-star. Kanata villa is located in a somewhat secure environment surrounded by lush trees and a wide street that is adequate for morning walks/runs around the area. However, it is to note that on our one night stay a wedding took place on the function hall right across from Kanata villa, we heard noises late night due to the loading out process of the wedding contractors. You should expect a minor disturbance if the function hall is booked on the day of your stay. Now moving on to the building itself. It looks promising from the outside, boasting a tall & seemingly modern villa. This was not the case the minute you enter the property. It is worn down, dusty, outdated, and most importantly not taken care of. The paints are cracked, the smell of the living room resembles that of a semi-abandoned house, you have electrical ports that are not properly installed on the walls around the property (definitely an incredible hazard around children), and more signs of neglect all over the bedrooms, bathroom, and kitchen. There are a lot of bedrooms around this villa, worth to mention that you are required to go up steep stairs to access the master bedroom, so if you are travelling with seniors then expect them to take the smaller rooms on the dining floor. I personally had the opportunity to stay at the "hello kitty"-themed room, with pink beddings and ornaments all over the room. The room was dusty, small, and comes with two towels that frankly did everything but dry you down. We are talking about a room that is similar on scale to a room from a budget hostel (OYO rooms). Now for the worst part of the stay, the bathroom is downright dirty, spiderwebs everywhere, dead bugs, crust on the floor & shower area, smells terrible, and to top it all off, the water had 0 pressure on the showers, you are basically showering with water flowing out of 1 small shower hole. Worth to note I ended up showering on the bigger bathroom equipped with the jacuzzi that looked like it had not been maintained for atleast 2 years. Also, the only amenities you get are: refill soap & shampoo inside their original brand packaging which is definitely re-used multiple times (also this is soap & shampoo purchasable from any small convenience store)Next, the kitchen is simply not equipped to cater more than 8 pax for a villa boasting 7 rooms. The utensils provided are simply not enough for the 12 of us, we had to continuously wash spoon, forks, and plates and eat in separate turns during dinner. The sink water smelled horrible (it had a filter next to it which we'd imagine has not been changed for years). The dish sponge looked like it had been sitting for a long time, we had to soak it in hot water to ensure our safety. There are no napkins whatsoever & the dining table was infested with ants so you really need to pay attention when food is on the table. Next to the kitchen & living room area is an unkept garden with all kinds of weed & grasses untrimmed. The final nail in the coffin is the service, communication is difficult, slow, and mostly unresponsive with villa management. There was a villa housekeeper which stayed within the compounds, that I have never seen or met as the person does not assist with any queries nor help around the villa at all. Expect no cleaning, we cleaned all dishes and tables after dinner to prepare for breakfast the next day.In summary, this villa is not by any means affordable, we paid more than 400 USD for a night and although we dont expect 5-star luxury, we certainly did not expect the quality and service that is lower than a budget hostel. I will not recommend staying at Kanata villa for anyone looking for a comfortable staycation.
