The whole crew at Simeulue Surflodges are amazing, service with a smile they go out of their way to help you and always ask how your day was!The rooms were great, location is perfect because you are next to Dylan's and from the villa you have access to all the other surfspots on the island.Compared to the other villa's you have un interrupted ocean views, no other surfers walking through your area and a great sunset spot. The food was amazing, and the staff accommodated dietary requirements and even helped organise fresh crays for dinner!I highly recommend staying there and look forward to going back!

My stay at Simeulue Surflodges was incredible! This place is a hidden gem: Simeulue, Aceh, and it offers an authentic, old-school Indonesian experience. We stayed for about 4 weeks and I've never had so many good waves and coconuts in one month.Accommodation:The lodges are cleaned regularly, beds are comfy and has all the basics you need. I actually really liked having just a fan instead of aircon (you adjust better to the temperature. The lodges really add to the island vibe. Waking up to the sound of waves and palm trees swaying is the best way to start the day.Service:The staff here are awesome. They’re super friendly and always ready to help out with a smile. They made sure we had everything we needed and really made us feel at home. Definetly grab a coffee or cococunt with them!Dining:The local food is amazing. We enjoyed fresh, locally-sourced meals every day, with a mix of traditional Indonesian dishes and some international options. Eating with a view of the ocean made it even better. You can catch your own fish (or buy at the market) and they will prepare it for you.Surfing and Activities:This place is a surfer's paradise. There are some of the best surf spots I've ever been to, with waves intermediate to pro level. Besides surfing, we had a blast snorkeling around the beautiful coral reefs and fishing. The underwater world here is stunning, full of vibrant corals and marine life. Definitely scooter around the island and explore! Here's a video of the wave in front of the lodge: https://youtu.be/U00I-yker_g?si=QM90aYINLt3i7wxPLocation:The resort is in a perfect spot – secluded and peaceful with no crowds. Palm trees and wildlife everywhere. Best thing yet, you can check if the surf's up at Dylans from the lodge ;).Overall Experience:Simeulue Surflodges is the ultimate getaway if you’re looking for a true Indo experience. Great waves, amazing food, beautiful reefs, and a laid-back vibe with no tourism. I can't wait to come back!

Be sure to ask as many questions as possible before booking this stay. The great marketing and reviews of this place do not reflect the poorly managed facilities at all!We were put in the ‘main house’ which is basically an add on to the kitchen area, divided by a paper thin wall offering next to no privacy. The kitchen lights didn’t turn off at night, blazing light into our room, the fridge motor was running all night right next to our bed, there is no air con, the noise of the kitchen staff chatting and giggling and running blenders at 6-6:30am was a rude wake up call, the bathroom has a river of water running through it making it smelly and slippery. The front deck is a hangout area for all of the guests, so again, there is very little privacy. The kitchen facilities are very basic and the food is quite repetitive.I also asked the other guests what their rooms in the bungalows were like and did not receive a very positive answer from any of them. We left after 3 days and most of the guests, cancelled the rest of their stay and moved to much newer resorts with beautiful facilities for the same or cheaper prices! The owner was not forthcoming about the stay, very arrogant and difficult to deal with regarding a refund, although finally we did get 50% of the rest of our 10 days refunded. I believe they are trying to sell the place and therefore have little care for upgrading or maintaining the facilities. As I said there are far better places to stay on this island so a bit of research is likely to land you in a much better place. The one positive was that the staff were friendly but I feel sorry for them having to attempt to keep guests happy with such poor facilities.

Small, cute complex, right by the sea with a great pool and sunsets. 3 varied delicious meals a day, which is important as there isn't much else around it. …
