When we arrived with the night bus early in the morning we could already check in and also got a bed to rest a little more, which was very convenient and very friendly! We actually chose to stay there because we read that Paulus, the owner, is a tourist guide, and were hoping that we could attend a funeral ceremony together with him. Unfortunately he was busy with other guests and directed us to another friend of him. He could barely speak English, so it was a pity that we couldn’t learn too much about the backgrounds. In the end he brought us to an overpriced touristy restaurant…Paulus helped us organise a driver to Ampana, which was very nice and made things easy for us. When we gave the contact of the driver to other travellers we found out, that the driver charges less than we payed, so probably Paulus took some of the money, that he said that the ride would cost, for his self…The house has very thin walls and it can be very loud (rain, karaoke bar, muezzin), so just keep this in mind, if you’re having a light sleep. It’s also very hot in the upper floor.Nevertheless they made our stay very easy as they organised scooters for us, organised the (not so good) guide for visiting a ceremony, organised the (little overpriced) drive to Ampana… And the family is very nice!

It's really nice to stay here because the atmosphere is like home. Mr and Mrs innkeepers are friendly in welcoming guests. The location is - + 10 minutes of leisurely walk from PO Bus Bintang Timur Toraja. If you want to rent a motorbike, the inn owner will look for it. Next time, if you go to Toraja, you will stay here again. Thank you, Mr. and Mrs. Paul.

I would suggest everybody travelling to Toraja to spend few days here! Everything here was so perfect that I even do not know where to start. Owner of the homestay was one of the most helpful man I have ever met. He helped us with the transport to Toraja, to rent a scooter and most importantly, he was our guide and showed us some really awsome ceremonies in Toraja. Also his wife can make the best pancakes for the breakfast. We only stayed there for 4 nights but we could easily spend here more then 10 nights, as we felt really welcomed and Toraja is really unique place, where every day is new advanture. The best place that I have visited during my trip to Indonesia!

We had a wonderful time with Paul and his family. The house is surrounded by rice fields and you immediately feel very comfortable and at home! With Paulus as our guide, we were able to take part in various ceremonies and explore the surrounding area together. We remember this time very fondly and can highly recommend the accommodation and Paulus as a guide ☺️

The place was perfect for exploring the surroundings of rantepao.Pauluss can help you with the whole organization, can give you tips and can even bring you to fascinating ceremonies. We would highly recommend renting a scooter for your stay at pauluss and exploring the surroundings on your own.The rooms are very basic but very ok for the price! We would recommend the family-room!In the evening, it can get quite loud as there is a karaoke-bar right next to it. And in the morning, the mosque as well as the church can be disturbing, starting from 04:30. But we got used to it.The location is beautiful as the homestay is right next to scenic rice fields. You‘re also in the city super fast by scooter.

We had a great stay at this homestay. Very friendly and helpful family. Paulus helped us as soon as we arrived for everything: renting a motorbike, a guide for the funeral and even booked us the bus back to Makassar. The room was comfy and clean. We had an amazing breakfast every day with enormous banana pancakes. The only negative will be the noise from the karaoke outside and with our neighbors as the house is all in wood so not sound proof. Bring earplugs if you're sensitive. I highly recommend this homestay :)

Paulus was recommended to us by fellow travelers and staying at his spacious wood homestay made our stay in Toraja very special. We enjoyed the view of the rice fields and delicious breakfasts cooked by his wife before heading towards surrounding villages to learn about Toraja's rich culture.Paulus is also an English teacher, and a excellent guide. He recommended places to visit on our own by motorbike and we also spent a day with him to learn more about Torajan culture. We were lucky to join a funeral ceremony and also visited villages where locals shared with us how they build Tongkonan houses or make jewelries. We only stayed two nights and wished we had more time to join hikes and others activities Paulus offered.
