Sweet Ginger Villa

Very beautiful, with a special style. There are too many insects walking around at night, specifically large, black cockroaches, which is not pleasant at all. An extermination must be done, definitely.

Sweet Ginger Villa is a private villa located 10-15 minutes away by car from the city center. It is not a hotel, there is no receptionist to welcome you so check-ins might get confusing, but the staffs are always ready to help via Whatsapp. Full-menu breakfast is provided everyday with a wide variety of options from English, American, to Indonesian breakfast, served with sliced fruits, juice and coffee. It is located in a small, narrow street that only fits one car. The neighborhood is very quiet and serene. The rooms are clean with a spacious bathroom. There is a small kitchen with a fridge, microwave and blender. Sometimes there are ants, flies and cockroaches but I guess it's inevitable since the kitchen is an outdoor area. Overall it's a great place for families. However the swimming pool are for adults only, it's too deep for kids.

Sweet Ginger Villa is a great place and good value for group of 4 - high-end, pool, aircon, kitchen, BEAUTIFUL Zen garden - very quiet place away from noisy Ubud city - great food options around too. Nice and helpful owner. Use very cheap Gojek scooter/car taxi to get back n forth to Ubud. A+ 10 put of 10 villa!

Nice villas a short taxi ride from central Ubud. Staff here are fantastic and will do anything to help. The villa also offers each room a free return trip to Ubud daily and this comes in very handy. Breakfast was optional and at an extra charge but it never disappointed. Rooms were good, bathroom was excellent.

Firstly, the staff were wonderful before arrival and very friendly on arrival.These villas are nestled in the beautiful Ubud countryside, situated a 15 minute drive from Ubud. There is a free daily return shuttle for each villa with a very lovely driver. We enjoyed our daily trips with her as she was so friendly and informative.However on our arrival, we were quite disappointed with one villa given to our group. The bedsheets had numerous stains on them and some dead bugs. The fridge is filthy in each villa (numerous sticky stains) and our entire villa smells mouldy. In addition, a member of our group had to clean the villa bathroom sink and fridge due to the stains. It is not ideal to have to clean the villa ourselves upon arrival!There is only one towel per person (no hand towel or hair towels). Our villa door was off the hinges upon arrival and did not lock. However, the staff fixed it with ease when we notified them. Unfortunately the same thing happened again a few hours later which meant we couldn't lock our door for the majority of the stay. This is unsettling when you're in the Ubud countryside.In addition to this, our shower only had cold water and it just trickled, there was no pressure at all. We had to go to a different villa to use the shower during our stay. The lovely staff did rectify this on our penultimate day.On one occasion we came back to the villa and we could not gain access as the outdoor door was not working. We called the caretaker gentleman and he did arrive within minutes and rectified it by obtaining a ladder and climbing over our wall! It seems to be a known issue though so perhaps could have been rectified prior to our arrival.Lastly, we had a total ant infestation but perhaps this is to be expected in the depths of Ubud.The staff were the highlight of the stay here. They were so friendly and always willing to help in any way possible but overall we were disappointed with the cleanliness/smell of the villa.
