I don't know where to start, my experience has been so mixed. (Positive at the end)The situation:- solo traveler- 3 nights in OctoberI arrive, and Riam the manager tells me that I am alone, that she does not offer breakfast, no catering, nothing. Already, the reception is not good. Her husband is abroad and I understand that it is a lot of work for her.I meet 2 workaways aged 20 who have been there for 2 days. I feel less alone. You have to go through a small, unlit and muddy path to go and eat. During the day it's not a problem, but at night it's a lot less fun. I believe that people who come to Ao Pong want to have everything there.I had to go buy something to have breakfast, but also something to prepare the kitchen in the evening. Large heavy bags. For what?Because there are three dogs at the resort. 3 rather aggressive dogs when the manager is not there. They bark, they growl, and it's very scary. Especially at night!!!These are dogs that have not been trained. We talked to Riam about it, who told us “we shouldn’t be afraid.” Only. A few days earlier, a family with a child came on a workaway, and one of the dogs attacked the child! He was bitten. They had to leave. The manager hid it from us.Is it normal to let aggressive dogs in a place that welcomes customers? NO.Coming back to the kitchen, when the manager is not there, it is closed. There are some drinks in the fridge, but when she saw we had some (we were obviously going to pay for them), she hid them. I thought it was a joke. No fruit basket was offered, there is no drinking water available (there is 1 liter in the room, but it is not enough!), so I had to go and buy some from 10min walk. This is not acceptable in this heat! The room was ok. Nothing more. It’s sober and cold, poorly equipped. The shower is a joke: the water flow is so low that it's almost impossible to wash. The hot water convector operates one time out of three. In fact, everything great about Ao Pong comes only from the nature and location of the hotel. There is great potential, but I have the feeling that the managers are doing the bare minimum. Is this the off-season effect? I do not think so.On the human side, I don't understand how people who are "lovely and welcoming" on other comments can be so cold, distant and sneaky in the off season.Fortunately there were workouts, because alone, I would have become depressed! No attention (I was sick though), no smile (Thailand, land of smiles?), she stayed on her phone without speaking to us while we ate nearby. In all my other accommodations, the hosts were incredibly kind. I'm a rather laid-back person and the roots life doesn't bother me. But I believe that little touches and kindness always make the difference.Professionally speaking, and because I worked in the hotel industry, I have some advice:- warn your customers of the lack of services in the off-season (no massage, no kayaking, no restaurant, no breakfast, no snorkeling boat trip - except in front of the hotel)- warn of the presence of dogs. I wonder if Booking would accept accommodation with aggressive dogs? Some people have an unhealthy fear, it can be traumatic- take a few weeks off: if you don't want to stay open when there are few customers, if the customers annoy you, CLOSE A FEW WEEKS. Don't impose your bad mood on people who come to have a good time on an island. If you are less careful than me on the human side, if you come as a couple, no worries. The location is magnificent, the view is superb. It’s calm, the water is warm, the sunrise is sumptuous if you wake up at 5:30 a.m. If you have a scooter, you will be able to appreciate the island more than me ;)The pier is right next door, it’s very convenient.
