What a wonderful, serene and inspiring location. The staff were brilliant, breakfast was the whole traditional experience, and so close to Hahoe Village and Cliff walk. The authentic bedrooms coupled with the hidden modern bathroom ensure the stay was delightfully comfortable.

Okyeonjeongsa is a place built by Ryu Seong-yong in his later years to conduct academic research and teach his students. It is also the place where Yoo Seong-yong, who resigned from his official position, wrote Jingbirok, which recorded his experiences during the Japanese invasions of Korea. It is a beautiful space and is currently used as an experiential lodging facility.

A true journey back in time, with exceptionally helpful and polite staff—we couldn't have dreamed of a better stay. It exceeded all our expectations. The scenery is magical, the room was comfortable, and the food was delicious. I highly recommend Okyeonjeongsa for an authentic Hanok experience in Korea!

You cannot judge this accommodation according to the traditional criteria. That just doesn't work. It's a 400 year old farmhouse with 3 bedrooms. Probably the way it was 400 years ago. It's simple, it's clean, but it's not a hotel. Each room has its own bathroom, although not next door, but across the courtyard. As far as I'm concerned, one bathroom for everyone would have been enough, that wouldn't have put a damper on things. It is expensive considering the basic features. There is nothing to buy, the nearest kiosk is 15-20 minutes away on foot. But that's not the point. It's about the experience. You pay for that. The peace and quiet by the river where you can cool your feet. The chirping of the crickets. The atmosphere. Just sit and let the place take effect. You have to be able to get involved with that. An oasis in an otherwise very hectic country. Just sitting and knowing that people have been doing exactly that in the same place for hundreds of years.Maybe I'm overshooting the mark, but there's something spiritual about it. It impressed me. Maybe you need a certain age to understand that. Alternatively, it certainly looks good on Instagram. And the breakfast is great. A car would be recommended, but it is also possible without it

Here you have the opportunity to live in an old Korean mansion. Sleeping on the floor on mattresses you roll out. …

A mix of old-fashioned charm and modern comforts. The view of the river was stunning, and having modern bathrooms was a relief. We loved the traditional breakfast, especially the tasty mackerel fish. Don't miss taking a short walk to the cliff for an amazing view of the area. The owner was very nice and helped us.
