Is it a motel? Is it a pension? (July 2022)A sweltering heat wave. Everyone is collapsing in the heat. I have to leave. You have to go somewhere. Otherwise, we cannot overcome this heat. We need to forget about the air conditioning in the office and go to a place where nature is alive and breathing. The biggest concern while traveling is accommodation. Above all, if you are traveling with your family, you are bound to be even more nervous.I was at a loss because I couldn't find a place to stay due to my sudden summer vacation. After searching all the apps related to accommodations and thinking about it, the place I chose was #LikeScent of Rapeseed Flowers. Accommodations near the beach are expensive and cost-effectiveness cannot be guaranteed, so I chose this place without hesitation because it was a bit far from the beach, but it had relatively good reviews. If you drive on the Seoul-Yangyang Expressway and exit Yangyang IC for about 3 minutes, it feels as if there is a building in the middle of a field. It was just pushed out of the main road as a new road was built, but it is not in the middle of a field. It is located next to the road, so there is a large parking lot.I wondered why it was called a motel-type pension, but when I visited this place, I found out exactly. All supplies provided by the motel, including towels, toothbrushes, and soap, are provided. However, cooking is not allowed here. Because I made a reservation in a hurry, I called before visiting to inquire about cooking, but was told that it was absolutely not possible. It is presumed that it was licensed as a motel. You can't cook your own food, but since it's close to Yangyang-eup, you can get late-night snacks and other deliveries (delivery fee 3,000 won), and there's a microwave on the first floor, so you don't have any problems eating snacks such as cooked rice or frozen foods. Additionally, there is a large food ingredients mart just a 5-minute walk from the accommodation, so you can easily purchase food such as alcohol and beverages. The place our family stayed was in a special room on the 3rd floor. The room had a separate bedroom and living room, and the bathroom, although without a bathtub, was kept clean. The bedroom had two double beds, so it felt a little stuffy, but when I opened the window, I could see the deep green fields, which relieved some of the stuffiness. The living room space, which is separated from the bedroom, is large enough for three adults to sleep, and has a window, so it doesn't feel stuffy. When you open the window, you can see the field in front of you and the apartment beyond that. TV, refrigerator, and WiFi are provided as standard. However, although there was no problem with the refrigerator's performance, I was disappointed that it did not freeze. When I returned to the accommodation after playing in the water all day, the room and living room were clean and tidy. Of course, our family's belongings remained the same. Four bottles of water and towels were also restocked. I brought toiletries such as toothbrushes and did not use them, but if I had used them, I think they would have provided new ones. The cost was 100,000 won including tax, and I think it was a reasonable price considering that it was the peak summer season. (I don't know the off-season rates because they didn't ask separately.) The building felt old, but it appeared to have been recently remodeled, and the rooms were very clean and maintained. Based on the middle passage, you can see a field to the south and the foot of Seorak Mountain to the north. There was no major inconvenience during our stay for 3 days and 2 nights, but it was disappointing that we could not cook our own food. Four stars are generous and three stars are thin.
