I live in Nagoya, and I was curious about the existence of this ryokan in the city. So, in January 2024, I used up my accumulated vacation time and stayed in an 8 tatami room for one night. The only way to get to the upper floors is by stairs, as if barrier-free is a breeze. The room is full of nostalgia reminiscent of school trips. The Showa era is very retro, with the rooms being old and poorly maintained. The toilet and bath are not attached to the room and are shared. The bath was available 24 hours a day, and the men's bath was for up to 6 people. The women's bath seems to be about half that size.Dinner is Owari Kaiseki. Everything was delicious, and I thought it was worthy of being called a culinary inn, but the portions were even bigger, and in the second half, the bitterness outweighed the deliciousness lol. Please take a look at the images, one by one.The breakfast was a little lackluster, with the lotus root kinpira having a much stronger flavor, and the omelette being too sweet, which confused the tongue a bit.The grilled salmon was also small and thin, which was a bit disappointing. Then, for some reason, ham and salad came out (see image), and it was very unusual. There is a big difference between breakfast and dinner, and I think that could be improved. I thought.Overall, the accommodation is noticeably old, and the service is undeniably inferior to newer hotels. However, if you feel nostalgic about its age, it will be an advantage. As the name suggests, the highlight of the restaurant is the dinner. There is also a one-day lunch kaiseki plan, and the menu is almost the same as dinner, so it might be a good idea to try it out just for that purpose.
