Very good value for money. There is a kitchen so you can cook. In Yakushima, where there are not many good restaurants and their operating hours are short, the kitchen is a very important place. If you don't feel like cooking, you can buy prepared food at a nearby supermarket. There is also a large public bath, so it is a pleasure to soak your tired body in hot water after trekking. Looking at the map, it is located in Anbo Village, but the immediate vicinity of the accommodation is in a remote area, so it is a good idea to have a rental car. Because the island called Yakushima gets completely dark right after sunset, you may get lost even if you look at the navigation, so it is best to arrive before nightfall when you first arrive.

Beautiful guesthouse in a quiet location on the outskirts of town. A large Coop supermarket is only a few hundred meters away. We had room 5, an unusually large - traditionally furnished room. Here the whole family takes care of the guests. A well-equipped kitchen with a refrigerator is available to guests. The highlight is the private onsen with a great view of the landscape and sea.

4.5 starsStayed here (2x adults) during our 3d2n stay in Yakushima. The lady boss was very friendly and the breakfast is a must try if your schedule can fit (it is only served at 730am).The room came with a toilet but the showers are at the next building.Location wise, it is ~7min walk from the supermarket and 15-20min from the main area near Anbo port.View from the onsen room is very good but too bad I had an open wound so I didn't get to try it. Insect/big spider alert in the onsen room though, so not for everyone!Would recommend for people looking for a well balanced accommodation near Anbo area.

I stayed at Guesthouse Manmaru for four nights. It is located in Anbo, which is the smaller of the two main cities that tourists will stay in (the other being Miyanoura). I would happily stay here again. The staff were extremely nice, and it was a small, family-run operation; I believe there were approximately eight rooms total. A breakfast was included (if I did not eat the breakfast, the quoted rate was discounted for that day), and I was able to request a vegetarian one - you'll want to do that when you arrive though so they can plan accordingly. The room had a private toilet, while 24/7 showers were in a separate group room and a bath is available from 5-9pm each night.A grocery store is located an 8-minute walk away. There are a couple restaurants very close by as well as some rocky beach near a couple of shrines and a banyan tree park, and then more restaurants can be found after a 20-minute walk. If you are also vegetarian or vegan, I recommend you try the island's mountain potato, tororo, in a rice dish with soy sauce and seaweed strips; I had it at both a soba and an udon restaurant and it was a unique experience. Souvenir shops are about a 17-minute walk away. I also recommend the island's tea ice creams.

Amazing host. Clean and tidy room. It is very close to the sea, the port and the supermarket. I wish I could try the public bath but I was quite sunburnt!

Idyllic place to stay, 10 minute walk from the main high street. I suggest bringing a torch to help walk back if you plan to stay out in the evening as the roads aren’t well lit, but this kind of adds to the feel of adventure and island vibe. Beautiful view of the sea and mountains. Great hospitality from hosts.

A room made in a row house. It was a large room that could accommodate 6 people.Since it was February and it was off-season, there was only one room, so there was no public bath, but there were two shower rooms.Even though it was called a shower room, it had a bathtub and was just like a large bath at home. It can be used 24 hours a day. There was also a kitchen room, which also had a home kitchen and a microwave. The breakfast looks good and is delicious.Refills of rice and miso soup are available.Coffee costs 350 yen.It was close to the sea, and it was so comfortable that I thought I would stay there for a long time next time.

Near the seaside. The facility is new and clean. It is built like a room in an apartment and has a toilet and sink. I did have some trouble with the middle-aged male climbers talking loudly in the room next door. Go out and be quiet after 11pm. I could hear faint snoring from the other side, but it didn't bother me and I was able to sleep soundly. The bath, shower room, and kitchen room are shared. Take a bath at the right time.Breakfast was served in the dining room and was a relaxing start.
