I was originally looking for a hotel near Kaihin Makuhari, but it was too crowded and too expensive at this time of year, so I gave up and prioritized sightseeing, and found a place that was too cheap at 3,000 yen per night, and this was it. This price is amazing in the middle of Asakusa! Maybe it's normal for a hostel.・LocationIt's right in the middle of Asakusa, so Asakusa Station is nearby, Kaminarimon is right in front of us, and the Sky Tree can be reached within a 30-minute walk, so it was very convenient. So, of course, it's always crowded with tourists, and it's quite tiring just to use this as a base and go somewhere else. In that sense, it was a bit difficult to make Asakusa the hub of your trip, even if you were just going sightseeing in Asakusa.・Lobby/FrontThe typical image of a hostel is that the lobby is full of backpackers meeting each other for the first time, and if things go wrong, they get drunk and make a lot of noise, so I thought it would be a good idea to meet once-in-a-lifetime friends, but I guess I just got lucky. Maybe it was a bad thing, but there was nothing like that, and everyone was just reading books, playing with their smartphones, and making phone calls. It's also nice that there is wifi that can be used throughout the building. There are restrooms, trash cans, and vending machines, so you can spend as long as you like. On the other hand, there is no such space on the sleeping floor. If I were to be greedy, it would be nice if I could charge in this rest space, but then some people would start charging with all their might and take over, so maybe it's okay to leave it as is.There is a luggage shelf in the lobby, but there are no exchange tags, so you just put it on the shelf and pick it up yourself later, so I thought there was a possibility that someone else could take it. Although there are small lockers for valuables on each floor, there are no personal lockers, so everyone puts their belongings on the shelves or beds on the floor where they are staying. I didn't trust them that much, so I took everything with me every day.I didn't use it myself, but they sell razors and toothbrushes in the lobby, and you can also rent towels, which is very convenient. It's an 8-story building, but there's only one elevator, and the stairs were only for emergencies and couldn't be used, so I had to wait quite a while.·bedThe floor I stayed on was a male-only floor with a 24-person room. The whole building was a little damp, not just the sleeping floor, but it was cool, probably due to the climate. I wasn't expecting much from the bed, but it was more comfortable than I expected. First of all, it's clean and the bed is neither hard nor soft, making it easy to sleep on. Bedding is not automatically changed during your stay. However, it looks like they will replace it.At first I thought the bed was comfortable, but...it wasn't that comfortable. The bed, or should I say bed, is not very good. The structure is a normal bunk bed with a wooden frame, but all the gaps are covered with boards, so it's the same style as a capsule hotel, and it's airtight except for the entrance, so the wind doesn't flow. It's usually hot and the air is bad. It's a little cooler when you put your head toward the entrance, but there's a certain fear that if someone stumbles and rushes in, you'll get hit.Actually, in a capsule, there is air conditioning inside the bed, so it might be better inside. However, I felt that I was able to prevent the loss of humanity a little more than in the capsule.Aside from other people's snoring, it wasn't really noisy outside, but I kept hearing a noise that sounded like a washing machine coming from behind the wall. Apart from that, for some reason I couldn't sleep well. I feel like the noise is coming from the bathroom downstairs or the laundry. The lights are always on in the room, but you can block out most of the light with the curtains. There's only a bare light bulb next to the bed, but it's bright enough. There is also an outlet and a USB hole by the bedside, but I thought it would be even more convenient to bring something like an octopus leg.It would have been perfect if there was a locker, but I don't think there is such a space.・Bath/toiletEven on the men's floor, there are no urinals in the restrooms, all of them are Western-style rooms with washlets, and they are very clean and odor-free. Especially since the toilet door doesn't make much noise, it's nice not to be woken up when you're sleeping. The entire bathroom is a large public bath on one floor, and is equipped with an artificial hot spring bath made of cypress and shampoo. There's even a sauna. This is also very beautiful. Well, you can use it almost all day long, so when the hot water is dirty, it gets dirty. This can't be helped. Much better.I realized that having a clean toilet and bath is a pretty high point. The baths are open even late at night, except when they are unavailable for a few hours in the evening due to cleaning, which is quite convenient. However, since the bathroom was on the third floor, I was worried about the noise as I stayed on the fourth floor. The bathroom didn't have a shoe rack and you had to take your clothes off at the entrance, which was a bit inconvenient, so now I think I should have bought slippers at the front desk.As for baths, I thought there would be public baths all over Asakusa, but even if there were, it was about a 30-minute walk away, so I ended up taking a bath here every day.·mealSince I had chosen a plan that only included breakfast, I thought there would be a cafeteria, but instead, I was just given a free ticket to a nearby Denny's. I was a little disappointed because I thought it would be easy to just wake up and go straight to eat, but the breakfast at Denny's was quite luxurious and included a drink bar, so it turned out to be no problem at all.·summaryOnce again, the price is low considering the location, and the toilet and bath are especially clean, which is a great relief from fatigue. If you want to use this place as your base and wander around, you'll have a hard time as the station is too crowded, but I think it's totally possible if you want to mainly enjoy the area around Asakusa.
