I highly recommend staying at Yokichi if you can stay overnight in Shirakawa-go.The town transforms from a crowded tourist destination during the day, into a serene and peaceful mountain town once the tourists leave after 5pm.The night time stroll through the town is serene. Our family of 4 loved our stay at Yokichi during April 2024. Seiko and her husband are very welcoming into their home and they go to a lot of effort to make our stay comfortable.Dinner and Breakfast meals are provided. The food is delicious and plentiful.Sleeping is Japanese style, on tatami mats and comfortable futon mattresses. The rooms and beds are warm and cosy, even when it is cold outside. The bathrooms are clean and modern, and the hot bath was a very welcome relief from the days of walking.Shirakawa-go and Yokichi are our favourite part of our Japan holiday. We will remember this forever.

I felt like I had returned to my old country home. Salt-grilled char is the best at night. In the morning, I ate too much miso soup with strange wild vegetables and koji.

It was a very nice stay! We stayed in mid-March, when the snow had not yet melted. We had dinner and breakfast. After arriving at the hotel, I took a breather in the hotel's cypress bath and took a walk around the area.Dinner from 18:30 was very luxurious and delicious with fish, meat, wild vegetables, tempura, etc.! I was completely satisfied with the rice and miso soup, which came with free refills. The room also had a kotatsu, and when I slept, they placed an electric pad under my futon, so I slept very warmly.Breakfast from 7:30am was delicious with roasted leaves, wild vegetable ohitashi, and homemade pickles! The landlady was very personable and even took a photo with us when we checked out! I would also like to stay here when I come to Shirakawa-go!This inn was great! I stayed at it in mid of march.Dinner and breakfast was so delicious!!In dinner, I ate fish, beef, wild vegetables, and pickles which made by this inn’s host.I could eat rice and miso soup for any number of times. In breakfast, I ate “Hoba Yaki”, and wild vegetables, pickles, rice and miso soup. The host was so kind!Room, bath and toilet are so beautiful!I want to stay in this inn one more time!

This is a wonderful inn with a smile and consideration from the hostess.I stayed there the other day. First of all, the landlady was waiting for us at the entrance when we arrived, and she also came to the entrance when we came back from going out. Also, when I returned to the room, the stove was on, and I felt that the landlady was very considerate of me.For dinner and breakfast, we were able to enjoy both delicious and slightly unusual dishes, including local ingredients and home-grown vegetables. Since my parents' house was a little close, the miso soup had a nostalgic taste that reminded me of the taste of my hometown. It was a cold, snowy day, but I was able to enjoy the warmth of the landlady and spend the two days without worrying about the cold. It seems that the roof will be replaced around next year, which will cost about 10 million yen. Since it is a World Heritage Site, the government will subsidize about 60% of it, but it will still cost millions of dollars. There is a donation box set up on the right hand side as you exit the entrance into the hallway, so I was able to help in whatever small way I could. The landlady and the inn were so nice that I wanted to come back here again. I hope that the landlady and the inn will remain as healthy as ever. I'm really thankful to you. I'll visit you again sometime.

You can go to Shirakawa-go on a day trip, but I'm glad I stayed there. It is especially recommended to take a walk in the morning and evening when the day tour buses are not arriving and there are fewer people. This guesthouse is close to Shirakawa-go's main street and bus terminal. Yokichi is said to be the name of the first generation who built this gassho-zukuri structure. It is currently run by a married couple for the 9th generation. It seems that before the current guesthouse, it was an inn for sericulture and peddler businesses. The breakfast and dinner were local dishes and I enjoyed them very much. White rice is the best. In particular, the dinner menu consisted of Hida beef, fish, vegetables, and wild vegetables. However, the menu may not be appealing to foreigners who are not used to Japanese food.We stayed for two nights after the cold snap at the end of December, but the room was warm and had an electric heater, a kotatsu, and a heater for the futon. I didn't use the bath because I went to a nearby hot spring, but the shared toilet was new and had a washlet that opened and closed automatically. Disinfectant gel and hunt towel paper are also available in the toilet!I had a very comfortable and enjoyable stay. If I go to Shirakawa-go, I would like to stay here again!
