Dinner at Ryokan Onomichi Nishiyama was a truly luxurious and unforgettable experience. All of the course meals made with Onomichi's fresh ingredients were delicate, allowing us to enjoy Onomichi's nature with all five senses. In particular, dining in the garden while the Gagaku song ``Somosha'' was played gave a sense of timeless elegance, and we were able to enjoy the food in a fantastical atmosphere. The beautiful garden that spreads out in front of you and the melodies of gagaku music harmonize perfectly, creating a special night. Not only was the food delicious, but eating in a space steeped in culture and history was a truly satisfying experience. I would definitely like to visit this place again. The dinner at Onomichi Nishiyama was truly a luxurious and unforgettable experience. Every course, made with fresh local ingredients, was delicate and allowed us to savor the natural beauty of Onomichi with all our senses. The highlight was dining in the garden while the elegant Gagaku music, 'Somakusha,' was performed, creating an ethereal atmosphere. The harmony between the beautiful garden scenery and the ancient melodies enhanced the entire experience, making the evening truly special. Not only was the food exceptional, but the blend of culture, history, and cuisineprovided a deeply satisfying time. I look forward to visiting again.

This was our first time staying at a ryokan, so we don’t know how it compares to other ryokans, but to us, this ryokan was incredible. The room (a whole house) was beautiful and the gardens were so relaxing to look out upon. The lounge is very nice and we appreciated all the included drinks and snacks that were provided. The service was very good and the meals were delicious. They seem to use a lot of local ingredients and you can tell by the excellent taste. We had dinner one night and it is very nice that you can add on additional dishes at the end of the set course if you are still hungry. I have been to a couple of Michelin star restaurants in the U.S., and I felt this dinner was comparable or better. The service was so much better than the service at the Michelin star restaurants I have been to in the U.S. For instance, they noticed my husband was left handed and switched his setup for him, and they were constantly refilling our drinks and water so that we never needed anything. The breakfasts were also delicious and stunningly presented. We agree that it is a little bit out of the way from the center of Onomichi, but it isn’t hard to get a taxi. And you will hardly want to leave the ryokan because it is so nice and peaceful. Also, there is a very cool coffee shop just down the road that we recommend checking out.

The building is old, so I think it depends on whether you think it has a taste or not. However, it is a perfect way to spend time away from everyday life when there is no TV. The calm waters of the Seto Inland Sea, nature, and history warmly welcomed us. I didn't compete with quantity for breakfast either, so I was satisfied both in my stomach and in my mind.

This is an inn that has been renovated from a historic old folk house and inn.The biggest feature is its old folk houses, with various types of detached houses set around a very beautiful courtyard, and some with unique characteristics, such as those with thatched roofs, non-Japanese houses, and ones from the Showa era.For that reason, I think it's better to choose a room that suits your taste. The rooms have been nicely renovated, giving you the feeling of what a house in the countryside would look like, but the facilities seem to be decent. However, since it's based on an old folk house, the air conditioner doesn't work well in midsummer, and it's so low that I bump my head in many places. If you are not prepared for this, you may become dissatisfied. The bath is also not a hot spring. Some rooms have open-air baths, but be aware that many do not. Rooms that are not open-air baths are modern-day indoor baths. The windows can be opened, so you don't feel pressured. The rooms in the main building do not have private baths, so you can reserve the large bath (medium bath?) for private use.The food is excellent, and what's especially noteworthy is that the sommelier will pair the dishes upon request.Basically, it's all-inclusive, so alcohol during meals and drinks in the lounge (which you can take back to your room) are all included in the price.Recently, it became a hot topic after being awarded the 1st Michelin Key. However, I think this is largely due to the fact that people overseas are attracted to traditional Japanese inns. This is the best inn if you are satisfied with the inconvenience of the room and the options for the bath. The hospitality was also great.

While preserving the good parts of the historical building, the modern and sophisticated atmosphere has a completely different glamor from before, and I felt that the staff were overflowing with hotel-like hospitality. The garden was lush and green during the hot season, and it was beautiful even at dusk. I would definitely like to see the straw house at dusk in early spring when the weeping cherry blossoms bloom. After being selected as a 1st Michelin Key, I had a fun time at Sakehall with several members of the training group, and it was a great weekend day!

I stayed here on my anniversary. Both the lounge and the rooms have a historical feel, but they are clean, the service is perfect, and I was able to stay calmly. The meal was a wonderful combination of French cuisine made with Onomichi ingredients and wine.It was an inn that I would like to visit again.

Transportation is inconvenient, but fortunately there is a shuttle bus, but there is only one bus every day. The hot spring is average and the dinner is very good
