I went to "Kyomachi Bar Okosiyasu" which recently opened near Kyoto City Hall! ||This Instagram-worthy okonomiyaki has a different visual impact from regular okonomiyaki, but the mayo-based sauce is exquisite! …

Since Honganji Temple is nearby, there are Buddhist supplies shops nearby, giving it a unique atmosphere. The exterior of the building has a unique Kyoto feel, but the interior facilities are state-of-the-art, very clean, and offer the comfort of a hotel. The parking lot was not large, but it was there.

One of the most, really probably the most, welcoming place I've ever stayed. Every staff member was super friendly, received an in-person walk through of our tatami room, full run down of the local buses, and they really try to help point you in the right direction around town to suit your interests as much as possible (we already had our plans pretty well set, but I still appreciate the effort). Plentiful English here if that's a concern. Japanese breakfast was excellent and served with a conversational personal touch that was also appreciated even as somebody who usually likes to be left alone. Certainly our tatami room was a great experience and clean as a whistle. It may not have the massive breakfast and amenities of one of the extremely pricy Ryokans, but an excellent spot for an experience beyond your every day hotel.
