The price and quality do not match. It is far from being a luxurious hotel. They offer very basic service and have very strict schedules.Breakfast is from 7 to 9:30.There is no 24-hour room service. There is a restaurant, but it cannot serve all the guests.EDITI have being thinking about this review and reading others and I agree... is a good idea in paper, I mean the hotel is cute... but the price is exsesive for the service given. I feel like they improvisse a lot and is manage by someone Who has no idea how to run a hotel, even though they have a BEAUTIFUL place.I do not recommend staying here.

Japanese breakfast and dinner were great. I would book like that again immediately.Unfortunately, just two menus later, the whole thing repeats itself. But then we were able to switch to the western one, which was also very good.Villa very comfortable, beautifully furnished and great for switching off.

It was a memorable stay for us! Stayed for 3 nights, we had lovely onsen time it was really special as it’s private and surrounded by nature. We were really spoiled by their Japanese style dinners every day, so yummmmmy!Room was very clean, they provide good quality amenities. It was a lovely surprise that we had a piano in the room! Although it wasn’t in tune but it’s still a good addition to the room we didn’t expected.Thank you Hakone Retreat, I feel founder/ management staff really put some thought into all the details.

Hakone Retreat Villa offered a truly unforgettable experience, nestled amidst the breathtaking natural beauty of Hakone. The Commune, where the villa is located, provided a convenient and welcoming atmosphere with its helpful staff, pickup service, and array of dining options. Our villa itself was a private oasis, featuring a spacious onsen, a cozy fireplace, and a serene balcony that offered stunning views of the surrounding nature. It was the perfect place to unwind and relax. One of the most memorable aspects of our stay was the kindness and dedication of the pickup driver. Despite the language barrier, he went above and beyond to ensure our comfort and convenience. His willingness to drive us directly to our itinerary destinations, even checking bus schedules for us, made our trip even more enjoyable.Overall, Hakone Retreat Villa is a highly recommended destination for anyone seeking a peaceful and luxurious getaway. The combination of the villa's amenities, the Commune's convenience, and the exceptional hospitality of the staff made our stay truly memorable.

We had originally booked a suite room in the hotel building, but the only way to access it was through a steep staircase, so we were asked to change to a villa because we were traveling with elderly people. The villa has a hot spring bath and a terrace, and the interior is very comfortable. We were provided with transportation to and from restaurants and cafes. The food and cafe here are also great. The hospitality of the staff is outstanding. A very comfortable stay.Although it is not suitable for elderly people, I would like to come again with my daughters next time.
