We recently stayed here for a number of days in Kyoto and absolutely enjoyed it. This is a beautiful property with a garden, restaurant, onsen and traditional style rooms. I need to emphasize this after reading complaints from entitled guests on google. This Ryokan is very traditional and so you must expect new things if you are not familiar with Japan. It is an older property that is in the process of renovations. Some rooms are remodeled, some are not. We stayed in an older room and it was great!Anyway, my wife and I loved the view of the mountains and the tatami floor of the bedroom. Bathroom is clean but small, however since we are staying in a Ryokan, there are big spaces to bathe and care for yourself. In the evening, you are also able to reserve private onsen time instead of public! Rooms are cleaned and stocked daily, tea sets are available in the room along with cold water and hot water. Yukatas are also provided and sooooo comfortable!!!Lobby has many cool antiques, Nespresso coffee and OISHII soft serve ice cream. I highly recommend the restaurant as well, they serve traditional Kyoto cuisine sets and it was a unique and delicious experience.Location is awesome, close to many famous shrines, 10 min from Philospher's road (I did morning walks here) metro station is close, taxi is easy to downtown and there is a blue bottle across the street and Dragon burger (recommend). Also, special thank you to Okuda, Mayumi and Suzuki for taking special care of us during our stay. It felt like we were being taken care of by family. We will definitely stay again when visiting Kyoto. Arigatou Gozaimasu!!! 🤗

Very nice place. The staff there are extremely friendly and we had a good time with them. The possibility of reserving a slot for the onsen is a big plus. Same for the choice of breakfast. We spent two nights there and regret not having stayed longer. We'll come back!

Great place to experience authentic Japanese accomodation. Food is great (they were very accomodating for vegetarian dietary requirements), staff and very friendly. Onsen is good. Connectivity needs a bit of planning if with kids. Many close by activities as well.

I wonderful experience in Kyoto! This is my first time to Kyoto and the room, bath, yukatas, and food were all a great cultural experience! Not to far from the Nijo Castle where a summer festival was going on too!

I didn't receive a reply to my email inquiry after a week, so when I called, the woman who answered the phone was extremely unfriendly. The way I was treated felt like I was being looked down upon and oppressive, which made me feel very sick.

The ryokan was one of the most authentic ones I stayed at in Kyoto, and offers a lot of modern amenities at a reasonable price. Some of the rooms can be small but it didn't make a difference for us since we were out most of the day. …
