During my second visit nine years later, the golden turtle cart at the door was still the same. The food was as delicious and the service was as friendly as I remembered. The difference was that the seventh generation had retired and the eighth generation had taken over. They spoke good English, so there was no need to worry about poor communication.

I visited for lunch with my children. It was a private room.As for the food, the course was 18,000 yen per person. To be honest, I was a little disappointed at this price. There was no problem with the staff's response. It was nice that the room was spacious and open.

This is a review of the restaurant. I made a dinner reservation after seeing the 4.5 Google rating and glowing reviews. I’ve been to many kaiseki restaurants, and despite my hopes, the food and experience were underwhelming. I was in the private room upstairs (with a very “old” odor), and no one came to even give me a menu, let alone take an order for drinks for 15 minutes until I called out to the staff downstairs. Even then, they came to give me the menu, but didn’t follow up to take an order. Once the rest of my party arrived, the dining service was fine. Our main server was very nice and spoke decent English. The food was mediocre. There were multiple dishes using hamo (conger eel), which I know is a delicacy, but I prefer more variety in a kaiseki course. The first dish started with hamo with ice cream in a cup, but the combination didn’t taste great. The soup (with hamo), sashimi, and tempura were okay but nothing spectacular. Dessert as well.On the way out as I was paying the bill, they mixed it up with someone else’s and had to cancel and re-charge my credit card. The location is quite convenient, as it’s located right next to Nishiki market.TLDR: The restaurant doesn’t live up to the 4.5 rating with underwhelming food and service.

The overall taste is delicious. When you visit at the reserved time, someone who appears to be the owner will greet you from the back. Composition of four seasonal dishes, bowls, sashimi, grilled dishes, grilled dishes, rice, water dishes, and matcha. Please note that if you go in casual clothes, you will be completely floating. They also have a good selection of drinks, including sake, wine, and champagne. The air conditioner is quite effective, so it would be best for women to wear a thin coat. Thank you for the meal.Visited again after a long time. I was taken to a counter seat. Prices are different for counter and private rooms.I think a private room would be better for entertainment, meetings, etc. The air conditioner still works well. There were now two Nakai-san. There are two cooks. They have a good selection of sake and wine, making it a perfect choice for Donbei. The food comes out commensurate with the price. Even the pickles, which are a supporting role of white rice, are delicious. This review is for Kaiseki Chikamata. This is not a review of an inn.

Dining here is one of the best memories of this year's trip to Kyoto. The ingredients and craftsmanship are in place and can show the characteristics. The service staff will try their best to provide instructions and be friendly to foreign tourists. We ate in a private room with a view of the courtyard, and the environment was very comfortable.

Founded in 1801, Edo period“Kyoto Chikamata” is a registered tangible cultural property of the country. The building dates back to the 1890s.In 2001, it was designated as a "nationally registered tangible cultural property."A truly Kyoto atmosphere and foodYou can enjoy it,It was a store that I had been interested in for a long time.I made the reservation via Luxury Card. The menu may be slightly different from normalThe food has a very warm and gentle taste. The summer-like conger eel and young ayu were especially delicious. Also, the 8th generation owner is a very nice person. After eating, learn about the building and its history. Please explain carefully,We also had a tour of the store ❤︎Next time, I would like to come and eat tempura for lunch!◼︎What you ordered*This is a reservation made with a luxury card.********Please also follow me on Instagram ❤︎Yoko Kawamura (@yoko_kawamura_)
