My wife and I stayed here for a few days during our honeymoon (Feb. 2023) in Japan and it was amazing. Beautiful building and location. The rooms were very clean and nice and the breakfast kaiseki delivered from a nearby restaurant was great. I want to say the best part of this ryokan was the staff! The front desk was extremely helpful setting my wife and I up for a delicious and unforgettable kaiseki dinner just up the street from the ryokan (at 京都 六条河原院 讃) which ended up being a private experience and is one of the highlights of our time in Japan. Thank you Kyoto Takasegawa staff!

So many words could be used. Charming, wonderful, special. From the humble, warm and friendly welcome. The authentic need to leave shoes in a locker, to wear Igusa (flip flops!). The beautiful room, with the amazingly fragrant cedar bath and firm yet comfortable bed. Our stay (five nights) was perfect. Would definitely stay again. As for the breakfast options, great value for money, well presented and quality and well thought out food options on both Western and Japanese sides. All added to the experience. Genuinely sad to leave.

I can't say enough great things about this property! The location is good. It is about a 15 minute walk from the Shinkansen train station. It is located along a small creek on a quiet back road in a neighborhood that is absolutely delightful to walk around and explore. There are many great restaurants and services nearby, including restaurants, shops, and coin laundry. The subway is a very short walk away. The main shopping district is about a 15-20 minute walk away. The hotel staff were some of the most warm, personable, and kindest folks I have ever met. They made us feel welcome and special from the moment we walked into their facility. The rooms were beautiful and the views of the surrounding neighborhood and mountains in the distances were very quaint. I love the traditional ryokan vibes, but with modern comfort. The cypress bath tubs were stunning. And the room was so big!My friend ordered the traditional Japanese breakfast and raves about it constantly. We ended up buying ourselves the yukatas from this place so we can put them on and remember our time here. This place is special

Loved the place. Really nice place to stay in Kyoto. Room was spacious, cypress bath very helpful after the long days. It is not very very close to the subway / train station, but the walk is not too bad. Also, there's a bus stop close enough. Staff is very cordial, polite and professional. It was my birthday during our stay and I was nicely surprised when we came back to the room late that night and found a little arrangement on the bad wishing me Happy Birthday alongside a box of financiers (and we didn't tell the staff it was my b-day).We will certainly stay there again in our next trip to Kyoto.

This was the highlight of my trip to Japan. Me and 2 other guys spent 3 nights here and wanted to stay here the rest of the trip. The 3 person room was spacious and the amenities were awesome! The feeling of the room was as cloos to traditional as you can get. The staff were super friendly (they even called a restaurant where we forgot our hats at to tell them we would pick them up later in the day) and always greeted us when we came back to the hotel. They also sell the Yukatas that you can wear in the room and have big boy sizes too! Which made it feel even better! The Cyprus wood bath was also amazing and smelled so good!Nothing but good things from this place. When I come back to Kyoto, I'll stay here again!

The hotel was super nice and stuff even more. Definitely recommend staying there. It's not really a ryokan but for that price you get a lot.
