I stayed here as a place to stay when I went to Adventure World. This private lodging is a renovated 80-year-old private house located in the mountains along the Atsugawa River. A suitable hotel was booked, so I was looking for somewhere else and found something that looked interesting. The building and surrounding area look like a mountain village on the verge of extinction, and there's really nothing there, so you'll need to buy some alcohol and other necessities before you go. However, once you step inside, you will find yourself in a truly nostalgic Showa-era house. Squeaky sliding doors, wooden hallways, raindrops dripping from the eaves. Such a nostalgic detached house is truly soothing. Apparently it's run by a nearby cafe (or rather restaurant), and the staff there appear when you need it and do whatever they can to help you. And dinner was an exquisite hot pot. It is a tea-based soup stock made from Nata beans (a bean with a hatchet-shaped pod that looks like a giant wisteria bean), which is a specialty of Atsugawa, and has a unique aroma. If you drink it on its own, it may have an unpleasant taste, but when combined with meat or seafood, it becomes refreshing yet has a deep, rich flavor. However, the amount of it is large (lol) and no matter how much I eat meat and vegetables, it doesn't decrease. And delicious white rice is hard to eat for a family of three. Although the building of the facility is old, all the inconvenient parts have been conveniently renovated into a modern style, with clean toilets, handmade washrooms, easy-to-use kitchens, stylish dining rooms, and Showa-era living rooms. There is also a spacious hall (tatami) that can sleep up to 10 people, and Wi-Fi with two APs, so you won't have any problems. *If you run out of drinks, there's a vending machine at the nursing home across the street, so you can get by (lol). There are plenty of amenities, but the only thing missing is nightwear. When I step out into the garden, I almost feel like I have traveled back in time, and I can see in my eyes the scenery of the old man and old woman who were the original owners of this house, taking care of the garden trees. It was so comfortable that I thought I would definitely like to stay for several nights next time. By the way, my 2 year old daughter was really excited about it (lol)
