We spent a few days in this guesthouse and it was very relaxing. The hosts are very kind and welcoming and give many recommendations.The view and the sunsets are breathtaking…The small beach and hammocks are perfect for relaxing after a day of walking/hiking/visiting the beautiful island of Shodoshima.We came by bus from Tonosho port and asked the driver to stop at Sen Guesthouse. It was very easy.We will come back (maybe by car this time).Thank you for your welcome!

Although it is in a very remote place, there is an Olive bus stop right in front. However, you must speak directly to the driver so he can stop in front of your accommodation.The inside of the accommodation is very clean. There are all the necessary facilities, including hair dryers, washing machines, and dryers. Towels were provided as standard.However, as the accommodation website explains, bugs are often seen around the accommodation. It would be a good idea to check the FAQ on the website before making a reservation.There is a sea in front of the accommodation, but there are no people, so it's good to play. This beach is only accessible to hotel guests.There are no restaurants nearby, so bus passengers like me can pack dinner before arriving at the accommodation, or buy ingredients and cook in the shared kitchen.It's in a really remote corner, but it's such a romantic place. There is also a parking lot, so it would be better if you bring your car.

Great family and great house. Would love to come back. Good to know:Very quiet and secluded. But there is a ferryman from the film village to the olive park and a bus stop in front of the door.Going shopping for bread or something similar beforehand is a good idea, as there is little fresh food in the kitchen. However, what is there is delicious.Bathing shoes are worth it on the beach, but you can also do without them.

As others have written, there is a wonderful ocean view from the window. I have stayed at many different guesthouses, but I don't think there are many places where you can enjoy such a spectacular view. The room was clean and the common spaces were comfortable. The owner and his wife were very kind and helpful, and even though it was my first time using the property, I was able to spend my time without any hesitation. I stayed here for 3 nights this time, and I would like to visit again.

Thank you Norico and Matt for welcoming us in your beautiful house.We slept so well, the only sounds we heard were the sea and the birds, so relaxing. The futon were also very comfortable.We enjoyed the beach and the hammocks a lot.The view from the house is wonderful. What a pleasure to contemple the mountains and the sea in the morning while drinking a delicious coffee!All the common spaces and bedroom are very clean and tidy. The kitchen is well equipped.All the people staying here were very cheerful and respectful.Thank you for being so helpful and disponible.We hope that we will have the chance to come back again.We wish you a beautiful summer and good luck!

I booked this hotel when I went on a trip before, but if I was going a little late,Just before I arrived, I received a phone call.Please pay the cancellation feeI was asked to give my credit card number verbally.Without trying to understand the situation,When I asked for the number, he immediately hung up in an angry tone.I'll never make a reservation again

The house is in a great location, overlooking the bay, new and comfortable. The owners are nice and the atmosphere is relaxed. We stayed 4 nights here, enjoying this time. Unfortunately in the end we were very surprised when we discovered that we had paid more than what is written on their website (fee and discount for multiple nights). They told us they decide when to apply different prices, without a real reason. They are pro in hospitality so I think it was not incompetence but simple greed. Finally in the last day, even though it was pouring rain, we were reminded to check out at 10am. Neither a invitation to wait a little bit in common space (our ferry was in the afternoon). After 4 nights of stay, we would have expected more empathy from people like them who have been pilgrims on many paths. Anyway, you have to learn from everything, they are a beautiful family and the place itself deserves a visit and transmits serenity. Thanks

Located in a relatively remote area of Shodoshima, the bus frequency is very few, but the bus can stop directly at the temporary greeting station downstairs. This place is far away from the hustle and bustle of the world, but the food is troublesome. The best way is to buy it and cook it yourself.

The place offers a beautiful view of the bay, and many shared living spaces which are the positive point. On the other hand, the futon mattresses were old and should be changed, too soft hurts the back. For a shared room I wouldn't have said anything but for a room at 10,000 yen per night it's really limited.

I stayed here for one night in March 2023 and came back for 3 in December. The owners are nice, friendly, and professional - this is a tiny, obscure island, with not much information online, so they will help you make the most out of it, going by local advice.One night isn’t enough here. There’s so many hidden gems to discover! Even hanging out in the guesthouse is fun, because it’s large, clean, and modern, with a cosy, homely vibe, and a private beach. Definitely a getaway to relax and unwind.This is one of my favorite places in Japan. I'll come back someday for a third time.

Sen is a wonderful little getaway on Shodoshima - we enjoyed our stay there, felt welcome and at home. The views of the sunset from the balcony and beach are spectacular. Matthew and Nori are lovely - highly recommend staying here if you get the opportunity.

This is a very beautiful and clean guest house. The owner and his wife have a nice atmosphere, and we recommend the craft beer. It's a cup full of fruity flavor, so please enjoy it. However, if you are quite far from the city center and don't have your own means of transportation, it may be difficult to access the area by buses that come only occasionally.

Although it was still the lingering heat of the summer, the evening breeze was nice and it was a nice place to spend a relaxing time. Since I don't drink alcohol, I ordered a craft cola.

I suddenly decided to stay on Shodoshima, so I made a reservation over the phone around 6pm, ate dinner, and arrived at the inn around 7:30pm through a pitch-dark road, but there were lights in the parking lot. When I headed to the inn, the owner illuminated the dark staircase and greeted me.Building → Beautiful and clean, feels like homeScenery → Calm sea and fishing boats coming and goingFacilities: Fully equipped kitchen, Japanese-style room that feels like home.Best value for money for accommodation and breakfast.It was an inn that I would like to stay at again next time with my son.

Great hospitality meter away from the water. They also have their own little private beach 🏝️ to swim and relax on a hammock.Very clean rooms, well designed..anything you need is provided.The owners are on site, very helpful and kind !would come back for sure!
