Amazingly personal service and ultra niche and small hotel with attention to detail. Very practical location and parking if needed is 3 min away for Yen 1500 a day! Lastly breakfast is excellent and top ingredients but not Japanese. Owners speak perfect French as well!

We absolutely loved our stay. The staff were very helpful, communicative and kind. The room was spacious and comfortable, and I even loved the PJs. The best part was the in-room breakfast each morning! What a perfect way to start the day. I even forgot my phone in the room after check out and we called to say we were coming back for it. The lovely man at the front desk was waiting for us outside with it so we wouldn’t miss our train. Highly recommend!

We stayed for three nights during our two-week long trip to Japan at the Villa Sanjo Muromachi Kyoto. The hotel is in exceptional condition, the staff was all extremely friendly, and the location was perfect for everywhere that we wanted to go in Kyoto. Some might argue that it is a bit far from the main train station (only a six minute walk) but for us it was not an issue at all and we felt that the central location allowed for easy bus and train access while being walkable to major tourist attractions of interest (Nishiki market, shopping malls, etc.). They received our luggage from Tokyo two days before we arrived and it was already put in our room when we did arrive and check in. We ate somewhere around the hotel within a five minute walk every night and didn’t have a bad meal. We made it a point to have dinners near the hotel because the staff gave great recommendations and the food in the area was all highly rated and not overly crowded or touristy. The bar in the lobby was fantastic as well. The hotel is expensive but we found the intimate setting, location, room quality, and amenities all superb, money well spent.

It's a downtown store unique to Kyoto City. I went in once and there were a lot of bottles lined up on the counter. I'm not the type to drink it, but if you're an enthusiast, you might like it. It felt like a store that elite types go to.

We could not fault this small boutique hotel a short train journey from Kyoto central. The size, decore and layout of the room were wonderful. The staff were helpful, attentive and courteous. Easily the best hotel we experienced during our trip to Japan. Don't forget to visit the fantastic bakery next door.

What a great experience. We spent three nights at Villa Sanjo in late April. The hotel is very stylish and comfortable (not always do properties pull off both so well). It's a very small place but top-notch service.  …
