Surprisingly big bed spaces, a friendly owner, and a cat... what more could you want!Staying at this place made me really nostalgic for ski season, and honestly, I wish I had had more time to bike and expore the area. Would definitely recommend to anyone who needs a place to say!

I had a pleasant stay. The accommodation is very humble, and they have stricter rules at nighttime, but it is for the comfort of all the guests, which is working well.

Yonesuke, the cute signboard cat, will welcome you.The sight of them playing with cat toys is soothing. It's close to the downtown area, so you won't have any trouble finding food or bars.I didn't feel like the owner was as responsive to salt as other people have written.

10/10 Outstanding in Asahikawa. Highly recommend!Asahikawa Ride is a unique place with its own character. Its convenient location near local eateries, kombini, shopping malls, bus and train stations makes it suitable for all needs. You can explore Asahikawa easily by bus, visiting places such as local supermarkets, sports and outdoor shops, Asahiyama Zoo, Kamui Ski Links, Higashikawa and even Shirogane Onsen. It provides home-like amenities such as hot showers, laundry, and cooking facilities. You can choose to enjoy solitude or socialize with people from various nationalities. There are ski rentals, free manga such as ‘Golden Kamuy’ and books about outdoor activities. Photos, posters and newspaper clippings on the walls reflected the life experiences and passion for outdoor activities of the kind and helpful owner, Tetsu San. He transformed this place into a homey guesthouse on his own. The tatami bunk bed with futon is wide enough for comfortable sleep and storage of belongings. A small lamp, a clothesline, hangers, electric and USB plugs etc. are provided in each bed. Free amenities include soy milk, yoghurt, cold Japanese roasted tea, cereal, Japanese green tea, coffee, and soup powder, while ski gear can be dried near the heater. During my 15-night stay, I found that there were loyal customers who came back again. Most of all, what makes this place outstanding is the 2nd generation cat manager Yonesuke (米助a very meaningful name). He welcomes you every time you come back. His presence soothes your soul.

If you’re here for Winter and chasing snow or backcountry riding then this place is a gem.Yes, it’s small and hostel bunk rooms and is missing a dedicated drying room for gear. Aside from that it’s a great meeting place to find others and to rent backcountry gear. Tetsu the owner is always willing to help, there’s a small range of breakfast items to start your day and it’s located close to the JR Station and and a bunch of ski resorts and backcountry points.

The owner, Tetsu-san, is incredibly helpful. Although he is a little reserved, he goes above and beyond to serve your needs if you ask. He works hard to keep the place clean and tidy. He also has a lot of local knowledge of the skiing around Central Hokkaido, and is keen to chat if you put in the effort. The hostel was built by the owner and has a very homely atmosphere. The kitchen facilities are good and there is free cereal and coffee for breakfast. Ski rental (including backcountry gear) is available, and you can also get a basic waxing service.

It was a very cozy hotel. When it opened, a cat rushed out and scared me. I like cats very much, but I have never been to a hotel with a cat manager. The beds are spacious and comfortable, and provide enough personal space and supplies. Although there is only one bathroom, it didn't bother me. The lights out time is very punctual at night, and you can have a very high-quality sleep. The owner was very nice. After hearing that I was going to Asahidake and the zoo, he immediately helped me find transportation, making it easy for me to complete my itinerary. The cat store manager is always very cute. I wish I had a cat like this. It is highly recommended for travelers coming to Asahikawa to stay here.

I feel nowadays it is getting more and more rare to find a hostel where you can actually meet people and almost feel like a family. In this regard, this hostel is different. It is very familial, and has a cozy little living room area where people sit, eat, drink coffee or plan their travels. Perfect to get in touch with them! The kitchen has everything needed for cooking, and there is free müsli, cornflakes, coffee and tea. The washing machine is free too, and the dryer very cheap. The owner keeps the whole hostel spotless tidy, and is really hardworking. He seems reserved at first, but if you need help, he will do everything in his power to make things work. He organized racing bikes for us for a discount price, and he arranged an additional nightstay for us last minute, when our travels plans didn't add up as expected. In general, I think this hostel is perfect for outdoorsy people, since the owner himself rents a lot of outdoor sports equipment and is generally well connected to other shops. The dorm beds are huge and very comfortable, and offer lots of spaced to hang and store your stuff. The whole hostel was built by the owner himself which is very impressive. To be honest, since the hostel space is quite small, we were a bit sceptic at first, but after 2 days we felt very comfortable and almost like at home.

Asahikawa ride is a very cozy hostel. I stayed there for 2 nights. The price was very good.Best thing about this hostel was that the beds in the mixed dormitory are bigger than usual. I was able to pack my giant 90L bag pack in my cubicle. There’s an extra floor space besides your bed to put your stuff. Additionally , I also enjoyed the company of Yonesuke, the cat at the hostel. He is very friendly and well behaved. The owner, Tetsu san, may seem quiet at first, but I think that may be because his English is not very fluent, but you can trust me when I say that he really goes out of his way to help you get what you need and make your stay in Asahikawa good. I’ve read other reviews saying the same thing about him being ultra helpful, and it’s very true. Do not be afraid to ask him for help. He also replies to emails pretty quickly. The equipment that I rented (bicycle) was also of great quality and condition. He even included raincoat, portable bicycle pump, spare tyres, tools, helmet in the rental.Tetsu san, if you are seeing this, thank you for the stay and hospitality.ありがとうございます、テツさん と ヨネスケちゃん。
