A wonderful experience in a traditional Japanese houseWe were lucky enough to stay in this beautiful, traditional Japanese house. The couple who run the house were incredibly friendly and helpful. As soon as we entered, we immediately felt welcome and in good hands - the ambience is authentic and radiates a calming, feel-good atmosphere. We were particularly impressed by the bathroom - modern and at the same time perfectly integrated into the traditional design. The couple also supported us with great tips and were always there to help us when we had questions. All in all, a wonderful experience that we would recommend to anyone who wants to experience a piece of authentic Japan.Greetings go out :)

I took care of my two daughters, ages 5 and 8.From the moment they stepped foot inside, adults and children alike were captivated by the good old Japanese technology and beauty everywhere they looked: the furniture, windows, and doors. The owner also carefully and interestingly showed the children around the house, and the children seemed to be left with a strong impression of the wells and the mechanics of the furniture. (Also a sumo wrestler toy lol)It has been carefully renovated, so while you can enjoy the beauty of the past, there are no inconveniences at all, and it is clean and soothing with the warmth and scent of wood. From an adult's perspective, the bath is particularly beautiful, with both the bathtub and the ceiling being artistically beautiful, allowing you to spend a luxurious time. (The shower is state-of-the-art, and the hot water comes out quickly, making it comfortable. It's also nice that there are two shower racks, one at a height that's easy for children to use, and one at a height that's suitable for adults.)Best of all, the children fell in love with the owner and his wife's cheerful and gentle care, and it has become a place they would like to visit again in the near future.

An inn in an old folk house that opened this year in Shikama, Himeji. The inn, which is located on a road lined with old folk houses, was renovated by a construction company that worked as a shrine carpenter, so it was very nice to see excellent Japanese techniques used everywhere. The atrium and bright glass windows at the entrance were bright and comfortable. The bath on the other side of the courtyard was made of wood, and I said, ``I've never seen a bathtub like this before!''It was amazing and I was so impressed! The bedroom was clean, and the Japanese lighting and fusuma doors made it feel very relaxing. The piano next to the sunken kotatsu living room is a German-made piano that John inherited from his grandfather and brought from Australia.I was impressed by the way they cherished good old things, not just their houses, but also their pianos and furniture.Above all, the hospitality of the owners, John and Masami, is amazing! !(*John is very good at Japanese)John from Australia is the ultimate castle enthusiast! !John is also very knowledgeable about Japanese history, and listening to his stories made me want to tour castles all over Japan with him.Masami is a kind and very pleasant person! !Various workshops are also available, so it looks like it can be a fun and interesting experience not only for guests but also for one-time visitors ♡Although there are many old folk houses in Himeji, there are only a few inns.Walking along the road from Himeji Castle to Shikama-no-tsu will take you back in time.It was a perfect inn for a historical walk! !

We are two siblings from Germany traveling through Japan for a month. In Himeji, we stayed with John and his wife, who were very hospitable. The communication in advance was great, so that we could even check in earlier. John picked us up at the bus stop and introduced us to the area.At check-in, he showed us around, explained everything and also told us a bit about the house. The accommodation really has everything you could wish for. A large lounge area where we were offered local tea and chocolate, a beautiful, traditional bedroom with very comfortable futons and not forgetting the fantastic bathroom. The house is a traditional machiya built in 1887. It has been completely renovated, while keeping its traditional vibe.John and his wife were great to talk to and as our stay progressed they showed us even more of the house. We felt at home at every moment.

This inn is conveniently located just a 3-minute walk from the nearest bus stop, but is located on a quiet corner of a row of Japanese houses. You will be welcomed by a hospitable host and his cheerful wife. The guest rooms are very clean and you can spend a relaxing time there, and the living room has a very quaint atmosphere with a relaxing kotatsu, a piano that was passed down from generation to generation, and a sewing machine that was passed down from the previous owner. The ultimate is the bath. It's made of wood and is large enough to allow you to relax and stretch out your legs.If you want to spend the perfect time in a special Japanese house, it will provide you with unparalleled value.

This is a very nice inn that has been renovated from an old folk house that was built over 130 years ago.It is a wonderful space that has a good old Japanese taste and combines nostalgia and newness. The bath uses a wooden bathtub, so you can enjoy a very elegant bath time. The bedroom is also very quiet and makes you feel at ease. The cute garden in the courtyard will soothe you.The cheerful, kind, and warm personality of the husband and wife soothed my daily fatigue. This time we stayed during the cherry blossom season.Next time, I would like to visit in a different season and enjoy the four seasons of Japan.
