The Ryokan Dougoya was one of my best Japan experiences by far. The Dogo area is quaint but full of interesting shops, alleys, and restaurants without being wildly expensive or pretentious like can be found in some larger cities. The Ryokan itself is located just off the main street meaning it stayed quiet and comfortable the whole time while still having great access to everything nearby. Our host was amazing, I could not have asked for someone better. He is the sole owner/proprietor of the Ryokan and puts forth 150% effort at all times to ensure you are comfortable, happy, and getting to all the cool places. His English is fantastic and he has so many good recommendations for local food and act

I stayed here on my first trip to Ehime. It was a wooden building, and it was a really relaxing space. Because it's a guest house style, the bath and restroom are shared, but everything was clean so I was able to use it without any inconvenience. The breakfast was delicious with lots of vegetables made by the owner! If you like vegetables, you should definitely try this ^ ^When I come to Ehime again, I would like to stay here!thank you very much.

Beautiful little Ryokan with only 7 rooms in the Dogo area. We loved our 3 nights and really appreciated the host's style, advice and Hisa's japanese vegetable breakfast. All around are high rise hotels but you won't notice anymore once you're inside of Dougoya.

It is said to be the only wooden inn around Dogo Onsen! It has a nice and emotional appearance. It was very interesting and fun to listen to the stories of the owners at this inn that is full of special care! I asked and was able to see the Peacock Room (?), which I had seen on Instagram and wanted to see.It is also within walking distance to the Dogo Onsen main building. The area around Dogo Onsen Honkan is lined with hotels and has a Showa-style atmosphere, but personally, I think it would have been better to preserve the historical streetscape, such as the wooden inns with the atmosphere of Dogoya, but I think it's a waste. thought. There are also plans that include a hot spring at the inn, so we also recommend using the hot spring at the inn. It's time-based, so you can come with your family. Also, for breakfast, the owner's special ``Genki Meshi'' was very delicious. The breakfast included plan is also recommended.

The appearance gives off a retro Showa era feel. Inside the hotel, you will feel as if you have traveled back in time with the jazz playing from a vintage record player and the clock on the wall. The breakfast ``Genki Meshi'' prepared by the manager (owner) is a vegetarian cuisine made with organic vegetables. The futons are self-made (new sheets and duvet covers are provided). Of course, the hot springs are the best, and the soap is organic foam soap that can wash your hair and body with just one, so if you're particular about that, feel free to bring your own. Bath towels and yukatas are provided, but face towels and toothbrushes must be purchased.

We stayed at Dougoya for two nights in late May and can’t recommend it more highly.-The property is a 90 year old factory that has been renovated and meticulously maintained. The rooms are spacious and comfortable with traditional tatami and futon bedding and some modern art touches too.-Bathrooms are shared and a kept to a high standard of cleanliness. There is a small onsen on site, which is cute, but primarily utilitarian (unlikely to need due to proximity to other onsen).-The host is lovely and considerate - with a great taste in music (and great record collection.)-I recommend the breakfast, too, as this was a highlight. Very hearty, with a lot of vegetables (unusual in Japan).-The ryokan is located 5 minutes from the main onsen and shopping area, so highly convenient.-So long as you are comfortable with shared bathrooms, I would strongly recommend this ryokan.

It seems that it is an old restaurant and inn that has been renovated. It's certainly elaborately made, and time passes at a leisurely pace. …
