It seems like it has been renovated and the inside was very clean. All of the employees responded in a pleasant manner. The water from the water server was really delicious.

A comfortable, updated traditional ryokan stay. Looking at old photos, they’ve definitely renovated their entrance, reception, and rooms. Ours had 2 rooms with 2 single beds each and 2 toilets with 2 sinks (although one was in the entryway), so could have fit 2 couples or a 4-person family. The toilets were pretty modern and sinks were wide, but not having hand towels was kind of a nuisance. Each room had an a/c unit for cooling or heating, which was nice, and the beds were generally comfy even if the blanket seemed a little dated. The windows were still old-school shoji screens so they didn’t feel very sturdy and let in outside ambient light as there were no curtains. However, the area was quiet and I had no problem falling asleep. The only bath is downstairs, next to the kitchen, so you’ll be assailed with the smell of old cooking every time. Onsen towels and bath towels can be found in the public bath, which was tiny but regularly cleaned at least. There were also some basic amenities like toner and moisturizer provided. The staff were very professional and kind, coming out to greet us as we entered and carrying our luggage to our room. We felt bad because our porter was a frail, elderly lady and we totally could have handled the suitcases ourselves, but that is the level of service they offer.Dinner was a highlight. A nice place to stay if you’re going to Takachiho, which is like a 5-min drive away, if you don’t mind some retro vibes here and there.

The dinner was very luxurious. The quality and quantity was so good that I couldn't finish it all, but it was so delicious that I did my best to finish it all.

Friendly staff and clean lodging. We booked half board which was worthwhile as the food quality was great and especially when restaurants close early within the area, saved us looking for dinner. …

This is a very clean and attentive inn.I could feel the careful attention to detail everywhere. The hostess and all the staff were very kind. The food is also very delicious. It was elaborate, the portion was generous, and I was very satisfied.Although the bath is not a hot spring, the medicinal bath is very pleasant and the cleaning is thorough. It will stay warm even after you go up♪If my husband and I ever go to Takachiho again like we did this time, this is the inn we would definitely like to stay at. We had a very happy time.Thank you very much for your kindness. It was a very memorable trip to celebrate our silver wedding anniversary.

It's been a long time since I've been to an all-5 inn. The bath was shared and was not a hot spring bath, but a herbal bath. It may be a little small considering the number of rooms, but everything has been renovated and is clean and comfortable. 10 minutes walk to Takachiho Shrine. We enjoyed the Kagura at night, and the food was delicious Miyazaki beef, Kariboshi hot pot and soup that has been in the inn for 40 years. In the morning, you can enjoy cold soup and local cuisine. Everyone at the hostel was very nice. Although it is a three-story building and there is no elevator, they carried my suitcase quickly. This is an inn I would like to visit again if possible.
