Used twice: in the lawn area in November and in the forest area during Golden Week. This campsite is recommended for its location and staff. I don't often use the same campsite, but it's a campsite I want to go to over and over again, so next time I'd like to use it for consecutive nights. The location requires traveling from Karuizawa to Gunma using the Onioshi Highway, and if you take the Joshinetsu Expressway, Karuizawa city along the way will be crowded, but once you get past Naka-Karuizawa, you can travel without stress even during the Golden Week season. . Depending on the season, the Harunier Terrace area may be crowded. On the way to the top of the camp, you can see a spectacular view of Mt. Asama, and I think it's a wonderful environment for those who want to camp in nature. The campsite is divided into a grassy area and a wooded area, with management and restrooms located in the center.During the Golden Week season, you can hear warblers, and at night you can hear what seems to be owls, and in the early morning you can hear a chorus of birds singing.Since you will be on a plateau, the temperature will be much lower than in Tokyo, and there will be large temperature differences, so you should be careful with your clothing and bedding. The sites in the forest area are reasonably far apart, and since they are on a slope, there is a certain level of height difference, making it possible to camp with privacy in mind. However, the ground is black volcanic ash sand, so if it rains, there is a concern that it will get on your clothes and tools. Personally, I overwhelmingly prefer forest sites on sunny days. The lawn area has few trees and nothing to block the sunlight, so you'll want a tarp on days when the sun is strong. However, it seems to have good drainage, so I would like to stay here on rainy days. It's also impressive that many people have good manners even during the busy Golden Week holidays, perhaps because the entire campground avoids group camping. I think people who camp in Karuizawa in November are probably used to it, but it's great that they're able to maintain the atmosphere even during Golden Week. There is a shop in the administration building where you can buy most things, but it is better to prepare your own ingredients. It also appears that drinks can be purchased at the counter.Shoes are not allowed in the toilet. Perhaps because of this, it was maintained in a neat and clean condition. The shower facilities are clean as well. I think even people who think this is important or who are not used to camping can use it with little resistance. The kitchen was spacious and there were many taps, so I didn't feel crowded. Although the number is small, there are faucets with hot water, which I think are more than enough facilities.Since it's in the Karuizawa area, if you go to the Gunma side between camps, you'll find the Toy Kingdom and hot springs right there, and the city side of Karuizawa has a lot of things to see, so sightseeing is not a problem at all.I think this campsite is especially recommended for those who want to have a quiet camping experience with their families or small groups.
