It was far! After a steep descent from Mt. Warimo branch, there is a forest zone with a gentle descent. It was located very far away.It takes more than 20 minutes to go down from the hut to the hot springs, and nearly 30 minutes to return, so consider the 1 hour round trip plus bathing time, and go to the hot springs before dinner at the hut so you can get back before dark. Where I want to be. Climbing shoes are recommended to get to the hot springs. There are 3 locations: men's bath, women's bath, and outdoor mixed bath, and the water was cloudy and nice. The next day, I returned via Onsenzawa no Kashira.1 hour upstream of a stream with a crossing (you need to be prepared to get wet to some extent), then a very steep climb (30 minutes in the forest → 1 hour in the Japanese pine tree → 1 hour in gravel + rocks). It was a challenging route with only broken lines. It's a lovely hot spring hut, and although it's difficult to get there and back, it's a special place worthy of the name "Takamagahara."

There is a reputation for good food, but I didn't feel that it was particularly good compared to other mountain huts, both in the morning and in the evening. I'm glad that the store clerk's older brother was steady and worked hard. It can't be helped because it's on the hardware side, but the water in the toilet is broken and doesn't flush properly, and since you sleep in the hall on the second floor with no partition, there's a high risk of bumping into someone who snores heavily. The common sense of one person per futon has been maintained.Above all, Takamagahara Onsen was the best. I hope that it continues to play an active role as a mountain hut that protects this hot spring.

The water coming from the hut was delicious and the hot springs, about 20 minutes walk away, were great.

The atmosphere of the hut is quiet and quiet. I think the atmosphere created only by lamps is perfect for a place where you can relax.

lamp houseYou can enjoy a quiet and relaxing time.It takes about 15 minutes from the hut to Takamagahara Onsen, an open-air bath full of rustic charm.I went to the hot springs, but the route from Yakushizawa via Kumonodaira is quite physically demanding. Let's go with plenty of time. (If possible, it would be best to stay at Kumonodaira)On the way back, I took the infamous Daito Shindo, so if you have a certain level of skill, you shouldn't have any problems. However, it is best to avoid it after rain. There are ropes and ladders, but they only go halfway, so if you're not confident, it's best to avoid them. It's a difficult choice whether to climb directly from Yakushizawa or take the Daito Shindo road.

This is a lamp inn with no generator. Except for the snoring, it's very quiet, emotional and wonderful. The beer is chilled like Sawami's icehouse, so it's lukewarm. The rice is dark and you can't see it well, but the taste is delicious. Charging services that use solar batteries require you to bring a 100V charger via an inverter, and due to the loss of power, the batteries are fragile and cannot be fully charged. I woke up many times in the middle of the night because of the soot from the nightlight, but each time I evacuated outside and was able to see the beautiful starry sky. The hot springs, which can only be accessed by walking to a remote location, were the best in proportion to how difficult it was to get there.

It's been 30 years since I last visited a hot spring and a mountain hut, but it's still the best. Walk for about 20 minutes to the hot spring.
