Stayed here toward the end of summer in September. The entire hotel is on tatami so you walk around with no footwear on. There are public baths and 5 private baths, but also in-room showers. When we were there, they offered free popsicles and Japanese sweets in the afternoon and noodles at night. Breakfast buffet is mostly traditional Japanese with some western options which was very appreciated. Drawbacks: there are no curtains so if you are not an early riser the light comes in through the Japanese windows. The buffet breakfast ends early at about 9/930, so again if you are not an early riser this would be tough.

The room setting and the hot spring facilities are acceptable as it’s a new hotel, but the service does not match with the high ratings.1) IC card lost - suspected to be taken by the receptionist while checking in as it was in my passport holder. It was used just right before checking in and found to be lost later.2) Baggage storage service only til 3p.m. - if you are checking out on that day and would like to store your baggages in the hotel, you can only store them until 3p.m. As the latest check-out time is 11a.m., you would only be allowed to store them for ONLY 4 hours. What’s the point of storing the baggages for the limited 4 hours? It’s just too short and ruins our plan of sightseeing in Kyoto !!!We ended up with paying for the lockers in Kyoto station. It consumed extra cost for the locker rental and time for the locker search. It was utterly out of expectation and lacked hospitality to tourists like us!!!3) Bed with dust mites - I am allergic to dust mites and my skin was so itchy that I couldn’t fall asleep at night. I couldn’t stop my running nose as well. All in all, it was not a pleasant experience there. The service could have been better. I won’t come to this hotel again.

If there was a hotel that deserves 6 stars, this is it! We have stayed in many luxury hotels that brand themselves as "6 stars", but honestly, none of them come close to this! We found this a truly excellent place to savour life. …

I don't understand why you have to exchange room keys and shoe cabinet keys every time you go out, and confirm your name every time. It's really a disaster for people who hate communicating with waiters. Also, if two people stay together, if one wants to go out first and the other wants to go out later, the key exchange system is very inconvenient. This is the most annoying hotel I have ever stayed in.

Booked a standard room here. But they have given me a room that is facing a wall which is less than 2m away. it did not mention when I book. I asked for another room. They refused first because it was “fully booked”. I Insist i didn’t paid for a room that is facing a wall. Later they found another room for me which is fine. But the supervisor threaten me if I don’t accept the new room they will charge me cancellation fees. That was not necessary. 1 star for Japanese style customer service.

I had a truly delightful stay at this hotel. The staff went above and beyond with their friendliness, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The level of cleanliness throughout the premises was impeccable, adding to the overall comfort. The hotel's proximity to Kyoto Station made transportation incredibly convenient. A standout feature was the excellent hot spring facility, providing a relaxing retreat after a day of exploring. I found the combination of these factors to be exceptional, making my stay memorable and enjoyable. Without a doubt, I highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Kyoto for a seamless blend of comfort and convenience.

This is not just a hotel. It’s a cultural experience. Be ready to experience one of the best Japanese onsen hotel in Kyoto. Conveniently located next to the train station (1 stop from Kyoto station)As you check in, staff put away your shoes in locker. Room is traditional Japanese room. I love their decor with every details. Beautiful floor, organic wall finish, comfortable bedding and traditional touch of window screen.I was impressed with their hot spring and all the offerings: Soba noodles, ice pops, yakult drink..Breakfast buffet is out of this world! Selection of traditional Japanese vegetables, soups, freshly grilled fish and meat.. ikura and tuna were served, so I made my own hand roll.Staying at this hotel was the highlight of our trip in Kyoto. Can’t wait to come back with my family in a near future.

Both the private onsens and the group onsens were beautiful and well kept. A bit off the beaten path as far as location but well worth it. Definitely one of my top favorite hotel experiences.
