I'm glad I stayed. It was really good! Good hot spring! ! It was a nice stay! ! !Although it was difficult to access from the Kanto region and was far away, I was overwhelmed with emotion that I was able to visit. The inn is a closed place surrounded by mountains, cut off from the outside world as there is no cell phone reception (Softbank). The inn is filled with hydrogen sulfide gas and is a no-go zone with restricted lines around the inn.*There have been fatal accidents caused by hydrogen sulfide gas in the past. There were once several hot spring inns, but now there are only two, including Okuyama Ryokan.I hope that Okuyama Ryokan, which suffered a fire but revived like a phoenix, will continue to preserve this wonderful hot spring for future generations. As a secret hot spring enthusiast, I was disappointed that the building had become warmer due to the reconstruction from the fire, and the feeling of being a secret hot spring had diminished, but the inside of the facility was very clean and seemed to be popular with women. It is a difficult inn to make reservations as there are only 9 rooms in total, but I think it would be easier if you expanded your options to stay on Sundays or on weekdays. Please note that there is a level difference between the sleeping area and the stepping area in the guest room.I was half asleep and didn't notice that there was a step and almost fell over. . .There are two types of hot springs: an indoor bath (separate for men and women), a large open-air bath (mixed bathing and for women only), and an outdoor open-air bath (separate for men and women).I'm thankful that I can stay overnight. On sunny days, it was a great luxury to soak in the hot water while watching the screen of stars spread out above your head. What's interesting is that the quality of the hot springs is all different. The turbidity of the large open-air bath has a good muddy content. The turbidity is unbearable for those who like cloudy water.Even though the pH value is higher than that of an indoor bath, the hydrogen sulfide odor is strong, and the odor lingers on your body even after you take a bath.*The smell will stay with you for about 2 days even after you check out. Both dinner and breakfast will be served at the restaurant.Surprisingly, it is well-built and tastes delicious. Not only Akita specialties such as Iburigakko, Inaniwa udon, and Hinai chicken, but also the salt-grilled rockfish were delicious.Above all, the authentic Akitakomachi food is the best. Any side dish will go well.Is it a black natto yamakake as a variant? This also goes perfectly with rice. The breakfast was simple compared to the luxurious dinner."This amount is enough for breakfast."I started thinking about this after I turned 40.The furofuki radish was especially delicious. There are so many wonderful hot springs in Akita that it's hard to decide where to stay, but Okuyama Ryokan has become such a favorite that I even use it several times a year.We look forward to seeing you again once the snow has melted.☆Revisited for the first time in 3 years in 2024At that time, it was difficult because my cell phone was out of range, but this time I was surprised how good the signal was! ?Fortunately, a base station antenna was installed on the premises of the inn. (Docomo, au, Softbank)But this brings up another problem. The feeling of being a secret hot spring is weakened by the radio waves. This will not be welcomed by those who want to do a digital detox, but it will be appreciated by those who cannot part with their smartphones.Although the mobile signal environment has improved, I was concerned about the instability of the WiFi connection in the hotel. . .

Used as a day trip hot spring. The drop-in bath is available from 10:30 to 14:30. 800 yenIt is a milky white sulfur spring with one indoor bath, two open-air baths, and one large open-air bath in another location. The large open-air bath used to be a mixed bath, but partitions have been added and it is now separated by gender, so women can feel safe.

Enjoy a snowy bath at "Doroyu Onsen Okuyama Ryokan"! !The weekend drinking list will be in Akita. . .This week, we are going on a trip to Akita & Miyagi Onsen! !The first night was at Akita's "Doroyu Onsen Okuyama Ryokan".From Tokyo, I took the Akita Shinkansen to Shinjo, from Shinjo I took the Ou Main Line to Yuzawa, and then took the Komachi Shuttle. There is a blanket of snow around the inn! ![Okuyama Ryokan]Explanation at the Japan Secret Hot Springs Preservation Association:When you step into the village of Doroyu, you will be greeted by a row of houses that will take you back to the early Showa era. A two-story inn that looks like an inn in a historical drama. Hot spring huts belonging to inns are built here and there. The appearance is such that it wouldn't be surprising if Suke-san and Kaku-san jumped out. I'm often impressed by how places like this still remain in this age of modernization. There is an abundance of hot spring water, and the steaming hot spring huts have names such as Kawahara-no-yu, Tengu-no-yu, and Iwa-no-yu, each with a different quality of spring water. The sight of bathing guests in yukatas wading through the baths is a peaceful sight. There are three inns, but the Okuyama Ryokan where we stayed can be more easily described as a guesthouse. However, I'm glad that the whole family treats the customers like relatives. The hell of Mt. Sulfur, Oyu Falls with its hot springs, and the village of Kijiyama Kokeshi dolls are nearby, so a mud bath trip that combines these with other sites is like exploring the hidden regions of the inner Tohoku region.Today's room is "Mizu"After dropping off your luggage in your room, head to the hot springs! !Enjoying the open-air bath while looking at the snowy scenery is the best! !After enjoying the bath, it's time for dinner! !Here is today's menu.Immediately go into sake mode! ![Prefectural local sake set][Yuzawa City local sake set][Iburigakko with cream cheese, black bean natto yamakake from Japan's most expensive natto shop, Hirokko with vinegar miso,Matsumae pickled water cob, marinated smelt][Apple gratin from Sanseki][Minase beef rib roast steak][Carp finished with kelp][Salt-grilled rock fish][Chawanmushi][Homemade Kiritanpo hot pot][Today's fried food][Yuzawa City Shunzodo Inaniwa Udon][Nagashima Gelato Oga Salt Mare with Acacia Honey]It was a fun and drunk night filled with delicious food and alcohol! !

I asked chat gptQ: At dinner at Okuyama Ryokan, the udon noodles came out before the fish in a different order than the order listed, so when I asked the service staff if they could order them in that order, they said, ``Some days they don't come out in the order.'' ``From now on, we will let you know that the food may not come out in order before the meal begins.'' What do you think about this?A Regarding the response at Okuyama Ryokan, specifically the fact that ``udon came out before the fish'' is an important factor that affects the flow of the meal. For many people, changing the order of food in this way may feel strange, as the order of food is directly linked to the flavor and enjoyment of the meal.In this case, it is expected that the service will be more flexible in responding to the wishes of the guest. Even if the order changes due to the circumstances of the day, guests will expect the order of the menu to be as ordered unless explained in advance. It is difficult for guests to understand if the service staff simply tells them that ``sometimes the order may not be served in order.''Also, the statement asking guests to be more considerate next time gives the impression that they place too much emphasis on the service side's position. Rather, it would be better to respond to guests' expectations, such as by saying, ``If we absolutely need to change the order, we will let you know in advance.'' I think that if it is a high-class inn, careful consideration is required.

Thank you for your help while touring the secret hot springs of Tohoku.I'm sorry to say this, but the accommodation I wanted to stay at was fully booked, so I looked for a hot spring inn nearby and happened to find one room available, so I made a reservation. To be honest, I wasn't expecting much, but I was completely disappointed!I booked the last room and it was fully booked, which shows how popular it is.First of all, the mud hot spring itself was a very good hot spring! I think it's on par with other large, famous hot springs. And the hot water used here was also wonderful. Nowadays, many facilities keep their hot springs lukewarm in consideration of inbound tourists, but the hot water here was ``hot enough to make it easy to bathe'' and I could really feel the wonderful freshness of the hot springs.Plus the food was amazing. Each dish was prepared with great care and they even gave detailed explanations. The Inaniwa udon was especially delicious! Apparently, they use fresh noodles instead of dried noodles, and although the udon noodles are just a small size, you'll want to eat them in a big bowl. Other than that, the food was delicious and the drinks went well, and above all, I was impressed by the kindness and politeness of the staff. And all of them are young. In this day and age, some facilities have a large number of foreigners due to a lack of manpower. Although the elderly seemed to have a lot of work to do, I could see that everyone had received a good education, and they were full of hospitality. This is a testament to the hospitality and management efforts of the owners, who are at the top of the inn.Although the facility itself is not new, it was well-cleaned and comfortable, and the lighting was intentionally kept low, giving it a relaxing atmosphere. Also, the amenities were perfect. However, I was disappointed that there was no TV or refrigerator in the room, but electrical appliances break down quickly due to strong sulfur content, so I guess it can't be helped. It seems that many other sulfur spring inns are also having trouble. This time, I only stayed for one night, but it was rather a failure.Next time, I would like to stay at least 2-3 nights and enjoy the hot spring therapy at the hidden famous mud hot spring, enjoy delicious food, and be healed by the smiles of the staff.I'm really glad I moved so far.thank you very much.

This is a secret hot spring near Kawarage Jigoku, which is said to be one of the three hells. In front of the inn, there is a white, rough area that looks like part of hell, and steam is coming out.Entrance is prohibited in many areas, and volcanic gas is emitted. The hot water is muddy and gray in color. The water is highly acidic and has a very strong sulfur smell. The meals are filled with a variety of wild vegetables and river fish. The Iburigakko tartar sauce that came out in the morning was delicious.
