I'm a local. You can't get there with Google Maps. We walked along a rickety, broken forest road, feeling dangerous, and came to a dead end just before the lodge. Please come via Furumine Shrine. Even if you go through this route, Google Maps will try to take you to a forest road that is closed to traffic. From Furumine Shrine, go straight (Prefectural Route 58) without going through the tunnel. There is a sign at the entrance to the lodge. If you set the destination to Mae Nikko Ranch, you will be guided correctly. It's a little difficult for large buses.Mae-Nikko Highland Lodge does not offer accommodation, bathing, or meals. There will be no reopening in the future. There is a restaurant on the premises, but it is only open when there are a lot of customers.Currently (from 2024), the Yokone Kogen Visitor Center is staffed by a manager from April to November. Please feel free to ask us about the nature of Yokone Plateau. It is very crowded during the azalea season and autumn leaves season around the May holidays. In winter, the road from Furumine Shrine is closed.Cattle are grazed from June to September. There are a lot of deer. Bears appear occasionally. You can rent bear bells at the visitor center.

We are not open for business. There are no cows on the farm. The scenery is good. No young leaves are coming out. It was a warm day for April, but it still felt like winter.

It is used as a parking lot for mountain climbing and hiking in Mt. Yokone, Ido Wetland, Furuminehara, etc. Cows are grazed on a large plateau. It's peaceful. There is a shop that sells soft serve ice cream, but they don't sell it all the time, so I haven't been able to eat it.You can rent a toilet at this parking lot.

October 31st, the cow is gone.Highland Lodge is also closed. There is no food or hot springs. There wasn't a single person, but the presence of one car made me feel at ease, and tourists in casual clothes were there. They will come later and go into the mountain. Probably because it says it takes about 30 minutes to walk to Ido Wetland, people seem to come here easily. It's hunting season starting November 15th, and deer hunters will be shooting guns all over the place, so you'd better be careful not to accidentally go into the mountains.
