If you come to Nikko and you do not stay here you are definitely missing out! Yoshi-san and his wife are far and away the best hosts anyone could ever ask for. The rooms are clean, beds very comfortable, and it is right next to the Tobu Nikko train station. Yoshi-san is incredibly kind, humble, and thoughtful and he speaks English very well. He cares for his guests and wants to ensure they have the best time in Nikko. He provided us with fantastic advice for things to do while in Nikko, showed us how local transportation worked, and generally went above and beyond for us during the course of our trip. Definitely stay here at least 2 nights if you have the time—there is so much to see and do! This was the highlight of our Japan trip and our family will remember staying here for many years to come.

I was a guest for two nights and had a wonderful stay! The host Yoshi always had time for a chat and gave me lots of good tips for excursions. The accommodation is clean, cozy and in the evening you can read on the sofa, for example. In addition, coffee, snacks and water were available free of charge at all times. I'd love to come back!

With Yoshi waiting for you in his hotel, you will live an incredible Japanese experience that will allow you to discover the kindness and harmony of Japanese culture. Yoshi will go out of his way for you because his leitmotif is “please yourself to please yourself”. He didn't hesitate to take his car to walk with us under the waterfalls. A unique experience that will surely be one of the best memories of Japan. Yoshi speaks English!

Solo traveller, stayed here for 2 nights during the summer.Rooms: 1st floor is the reception, living room and kitchen. Second floor are the guest rooms. I was provided a bedroom and a study room. Rooms are clean and the bed was comfortable. Toilets and basins are shared with hygiene amenities provided. You can use the kitchen microwave.Service: the service and hospitality of Yoshi-san made the trip to Nikko pleasant. He will suggest excellent itineraries and restaurants based on your feedback. Conversed in English.Location: near tobu Nikko station, 5 minutes walk to the supermarket, 8 minutes to the konbini. You can take a bus to the local attractions or rent a bike from Yoshi (free for guests). Otherwise, the walk is about 25-35 minutes uphill to the shinkyo bridge.Overall, I enjoyed myself and would visit again.

Sanga Nikko was perfect. It was off-season, so it was very quiet, but Yoshi made us very welcome. The place is absolutely spotless and has everything you need. Location is great, a few steps from the train station and main street and a very short walk to the major sites around Nikko.

Yoshi-san is a fantastic host who made our stay at Sanga Nikko the very best accommodation experience in our 10 weeks of independent travel in Japan. Such a contrast to all those impersonal business hotels! All of the other reviews are quite accurate in emphasising his generosity and customer service. He genuinely enjoys communicating with his guests and has well developed English skills so you can ask him to explain all those baffling aspects of Japan you were wondering about. If you wish, he will recommend an efficient itinerary for Nikko and surrounds, reserve authentic local restaurants and assist with any personal requests.Yoshi and his wife offer the perceptive traveller an authentic Japanese home experience in a welcoming , comfortable and clean space, conveniently located near transport, restaurants and supermarket. We absolutely loved everything we visited in Nikko, which is beautiful but not overcrowded with tourists.. Our strong advice is to stay 2 or 3 nights as there is so much to see and do.

We really enjoyed staying there. The hosts are very welcoming and friendly. Yoshi-san takes beautiful photos in his studio and offers advice on the surrounding area. The common area is well laid out, well equipped and always clean. The location is ideal, right next to the train station and bus stop. Thank you again for having us.
