It's good except that the location is a bit ambiguous. Thanks to a change in schedule, I had a great two days at a traditional Japanese ryokan with its own history. Breakfast was okay too. This is a place I would recommend to travelers in this area. Very kind.

My place in Kyushu. Love it here. First, service is excellent; English and Mandarin speaking staff is available. Second, and more important; the whole place has something poetic about it - old and new mixed together very nicely. The building is traditional Japanese style, old but nicely renovated. The rooms are tatami, the hot springs are simple but very nice...you get a 40 minute session in a private pool per day. It's all got this authentic romantic flavor to it. Breakfast and dinner are great, traditional Japanese style. Love it! I'll be back.6 years later, September 2024, we came back. Still the same, but they have an elevator to get to the third floor now, which is a nice addition. We'll be back 😁

If you'd like to stay in a traditional Onsen Ryokan in Aso, you should stay at this Ryokan where you can experience the highest level of " Omotenashi" (Japanese hospitality).  …
