Bus from Kumamoto stops at this property. Japanese styled room with dressing table, fridge and charging points at balcony area. We stayed 4nights and chose not to have rooms cleaned. Room was tidy, clean and quiet. They will hang new towels at your door daily. Toiletries can be collected at lobby if you want to bathe in your room. Strongly suggest that you bathe at onsen rather than in your room as space is much wider and Pola toiletries are all provided - face wash, lotion, moisturiser, etc. Bring your large towel from room as only small ones are provided there. Yutakas of different sizes can be collected from each level. Two shuttles to Aso Station daily at 8.20/9.30am. For return trip, you can request staff at Tourist Desk to help you call for hotel transport or use the public phone booth. Breakfast is a good mix of Japanese and Western between 7-9am Dinner is a very sumptuous Kaiseki so come very hungry. Actually, it’s way too much. Hope they’ll cut it down by half to save cost for guest. You can choose time starting from 6pm and last slot at 7.30pm. Better to go have bath at onsen before dinner time as it’s usually empty. Walk up to 2nd level from lobby. There’s a small outdoor onsen too but water is not so warm as indoor. It’s a nice experience though. We didn’t visit the rooftop open-air onsen as there is no bath area there. You must bathe at 2nd level and take the lift outside the onsen entrance to 7th floor. Overall, we were very happy with our stay. Views of the mountains from our room was awesome. Hotel is very considerate to arrange separate dining hall for groups during dinner as they tend to be noisy. Remember to peak out of window to see beautiful stars at night.

Old hotel with basic amenities. There are 2 onsen and the roof top onsen is quite nice with good views. No bath in the room so you must shower in the public bath.

I loved this place and the surrounding town! It's chill and the food is excellent. The onsen is good. Get dinner and breakfast - both are very good. The vibes here are the best. They have very good artwork in this hotel. Try to get a room facing away from the street for a better view.

After traveling throughout northern Kyushu for seven days, staying here was one of the highlights of my trip. I chose Aso Plaza Hotel as I was traveling solo and many onsens do not offer rooms for single travelers. …

The hotel is clean, need a car to get there. It’s recommended to upgrade lightening to make the room brighter. I reserved a room with view during booking and it’s more expensive then same level room. However, they turns out provided me a room with rooftop view. Feeling disappointed.

Central location(especially for those without cars). Aso station is 5km away. One of the more affordable hotels with onsen and breakfast. A few attractions nearby. Staffs are very friendly and will arrange free shuttle from train station. Onsen (both indoor and outdoor) need to be cleaner as floor seems to be mouldy(?). A pity, as the outdoor Mt Aso range view is splendid. Breakfast is good.

The hotel lobby is big and there's several guest room wings. I was in an area up the stairs off the lobby. My traditional room was enormous. I've never seen it before, had a Western toilet room and a squat toilet room in my room. …
