Showed up for a five night stay and cancelled same day.Poor maintenance and cleanliness (broken Sochi screens, unusable outdoor kitchen) unfriendly service, and a very loud clanging tank right outside my window. Also, no locking doors to outside.Pricey at around $150USD per night and despite their commitment to refund me, no refund has happened.Travellers beware.

I was attending a culinary school close to this guesthouse and it came recommended by them, so I reserved five nights at around $150 USD per night. …

We rented out the annex for four university students, and it was very reasonably priced.I felt there was plenty of space for 4 people, so I think it can be used by 6 people as well.If you are not good with insects, I think it is better to refrain from visiting. It had a great atmosphere and it was about a 20 minute walk down the hill to the city of Atami, which was great!

Not all posted photos are bad, but there are differences depending on the season.I think guests make their decisions based on comments, photos, prices, etc. There are very few comments that are less than a year old. I think this is a beautiful photo that makes you think it was in good condition when it opened. This time I stayed at an inn in the annex. I can't see the 1st and 2nd floors of the main building, so I don't know the information! Also, I don't know any information about Western-style rooms! However, what I can say after staying there and experiencing it is that I think it's a good place to stay while enjoying the Showa atmosphere, and I think the accommodation costs are cheap during the Obon period.Let me just comment honestly...However, I am really disappointed in the cleaning aspect! Is it because the house was built in 1947? Is it because it's an old folk house style house? Nowadays, renovated old houses are also popular, and that's fine, but the difference between the reviews and the photos is too big! The hallways and rooms are still good, but the bathroom and kitchen? , the bathroom is completely out 👍! It's obvious that the cleaning hasn't been done thoroughly! Considering the building, I can understand why there were small dead insects and the like. However, I don't do any other cleaning aspects! There's hair left in the bathroom drain that I don't know whose hair it is, and I don't know when it happened...It's at a level where I think I'm able to manage my business very well! (I also work in the service industry, so as someone in the same industry, I'm really disappointed.)We also spoke to the owner. I heard that his hometown is Kanagawa Prefecture and he works as a real estate agent. Apparently there is a staff member here in Atami City, but when that staff member is on vacation, the owner himself comes here and manages the inn. That's why I felt this was the result❗❗I love Atami City and come to visit it every year, and I even visit people from Shimoda City. I always travel without meals at guesthouses and enjoy the local atmosphere through the local restaurants.Unfortunately, the room I stayed in at this guesthouse was the lowest level❗I will never use this inn again, and I don't even want to remember it❗ In hindsight, it's one of those stories that makes me laugh!

If you can accept the ``old-fashioned building'' and ``guest house system,'' this is definitely a ``good'' inn.I wonder if the people who gave low ratings in reviews were looking for cleanliness and service comparable to a hotel. Why didn't I get a hotel?I took it in 3 days and 2 nights. There is only one reserved parking lot next to the hotel. If there is no vacancy, there is a coin parking lot at Kinomiya Station (there is no parking fee). Although it is within walking distance, it is a short walk from the station and there are some slopes, so it would be best if you can get a parking lot at the inn. The inn's parking lot is covered, and when I went there at the end of May, the inside of the car didn't get boiling, so it was very comfortable.I booked a room on the second floor, and the view from the wide veranda was spectacular, with the ocean visible in the distance. The old-fashioned construction is also nice! It would be a good idea to sit on a wide chair or on the edge and read a book or just relax. On the day of the fireworks, it would be great to sit on the sofa in the hallway on the second floor and watch them.Because it is an old building, you can hear other guests talking quite a bit. If you're in a guest house, you're mutually friendly to some extent. It's near a forest, so I think it can't be helped that some insects get in there. When I told the manager, he lent me a long-lasting insecticide. I've always been surrounded by nature, so I don't have much resistance to it.The best thing was the private hot spring! I didn't go to any other hot springs and ended up staying here. And I feel very satisfied. It was a luxury to be able to occupy a very large open-air bath for free (as of 2023) for an hour! You will be asked for your time when you check in, so we recommend checking in early if you wish.By the way, the hot water in the shower is slow to come out, so it's better to start the hot water when you're changing clothes. Is there a high partition in the garden that can't be seen from the second floor? You may be worried, but it's okay, I can't see it at all (lol)If you are considerate, adaptable, and don't care about small details, please stay with us! I would like to use it again.

Although it is a quaint old private house, it is unfortunate that it is not kept well-maintained.In particular, the water area had not been cleaned at all for a long time, and although six people cleaned it for over an hour after checking in, I didn't feel like using it in the end. There is a difference between old and dirty.

Only downsides are that there is only one bathroom, and that you may only use the shower/onsen with a reservation in a certain window of time, until 11 pm. Other than that, it's a great experience. Close to the JR station.
