It's a wonderful hut with hot springs, food, and customer service. The hot springs are especially great. I would like to visit you again sometime.

An unexplored hot spring located on Mt. Nasu that can only be reached on foot. There are two in Santogoya Onsen, and I used this one today for a day trip. Enjoy simple hot springs and open-air baths (both hot and lukewarm) in the mountains. You can take a bath from 10:00 to 13:00, but please note that there is a mixed bathing time and there is a women-only time. When no one is using the bath, men are sometimes allowed to take a bath even during women-only hours. It's great to have this location. Santogoya Onsen is the oldest mountain hut in Japan. Opened in 1142, it prospered as a mountain road leading to Aizu, and there were apparently five of them at one time. As you can see when you arrive, the distance between Santogoya and Otoge (Shimogo, Fukushima Prefecture) is surprisingly close at 2.2km. However, the road is quite hard. It is 4km from Ushikubi, south of Mt. Nasu, and the most popular route is from Kumami Sone on the way to Mt. Asahidake via Inkyozawa, or from the teahouse shelter on the pass through the forest belt.

This is an accommodation facility where you can soak in a hot spring in the mountains. To reach it, you have to either descend for about 1 to 2 hours from the ridgeline between Mt. Chausu and Mt. Sanbonyari where the ropeway is located, or climb up the mountain path from Numahara Marsh for about 3 to 4 hours. Both are mountain trails, so it would be foolhardy to head for the ropeway in casual clothes and sneakers.Be sure to bring ankle-length hiking boots, rain gear, and cold weather gear. Also, since it is a volcanic zone, the rocks are sharp and very dangerous. Depending on the route, there may be rockfall, so consider wearing a helmet. It is divided into the main building, which has lodging, a restaurant, indoor baths, and open-air baths, and the annex, which has a library and lodging.Although the facility itself is old, the food is delicious and the library is comfortable. After all, the open-air bath that you can take while looking at the mountains is very atmospheric and the best thing about it.However, the open-air bath is a mixed-gender bath, and the changing room is in a shed with no door, so it may be difficult for women to use it. (A mountain man or a mountain woman will enter regardless of who is there.)

A new wood deck has been built in front of the eaves of the dining room. Drinking beer at a table on the wooden deck while watching the monkeys relaxing on the roof of the annex was a special experience.
