Due to my wife being Japanese I've visited Japan every year since 2009, and this is the best resort I've ever stayed at.If you are looking for a traditional Japanese countryside "inaka" experience, with a fluent English speaking owner/tour guide, Kisho is by far the best place to try. The property itself is amazing with natural greenery. mountian views, and a beautiful river beside it. The rooms are super traditional, with tatami mats, and sliding connecting doors, yet still has modern comforts like western washrooms, heat and a/c.The owner Shoji is super friendly, knows the area and sights like the back of his hand, and is very accommodating to your requests and things you want to see and do.It's my new favourite place to stay in Japan to get away from the hustle and bustle of the big cities and experience true serene and beautiful country living.

What a wonderful couple and baby! A guest house run by!The accommodation is a spacious one-story house with a purely Japanese-style garden and the appearance of a luxurious mansion. The wife looks cute too.Her husband is also a hard worker, able to do anything, and exudes the radiance of being a great dad, which gives him a wild feeling! Even though I forced Yuuga to ask at the time, she kindly let me stay there, let me take advantage of the nearby fireworks festival, and even made me a late-night snack even though I was staying overnight without meals. It was a very comfortable place! EveryoneIf you come to this area, the place to stay is definitely Guest House KISSHO!

At the end of the year, we had an overnight stay and breakfast. This is an inn that has been renovated from an old folk house. I was able to spend time feeling the Japanese atmosphere. I was able to relax in a hidden place.

Where do I even begin. It's more beautiful than you can imagine. The experience changed me deeply. An appreciation for the sound of the river at night. To wake up and forget for a moment what year it is.However the host has everything you could ever need right at hand. He is extremely genuine and an absolutely wonderful human being. My family and I have already planned on returning here from Canada.RV

"Westerners try to conquer the mountains.People of the East contemplate the mountains. For us, mountains are not an object of scientific study but a work of art.Patiently I taste the mountains." (Taneda Santoka)Japan is another world and another kind of energy in comparison to the rest of us. Yet, it caries two polarities that further divide it into two microcosms in itself. When you get tired of the overwhelming Urban, u naturally seek for a recluse where the origins are. Wakayama pref stands for the traditionally countryside part of the Honshu island. Its green mountains speckled with relentless little springs, that give it a special perky character, are simply breathtaking. Fiery parsimons and fiesty ume are the specialty of the region, and the daily routine of the locals is on par with how the nature itself makes you feel when there - cozy yet bewildered.I spent some days exploring Shoji's piece of nature and tradition down in the town of hotsprings. His hospitality gets under your skin and you let yourself be at home even before he invites you out loud. His food makes your belly warm (and you can also introduce your own food at will) and his enthusiasm makes you want to stay more and find that mysterious flow of energy that the whole place runs on. I don't think he found the source himself yet, but he's definitely sipping on local umeshu with the Nature in the backyard while everyone else is sleeping ;)Go on, dive!
