Three of us went on a family tour during Obon. There is also a garage, with space for 3 cars. It rained at night, but there was a shutter so I felt safe. There are many tools in the garage that you can use. I was also very grateful for the helmet dryer. The room was a private room with 2 bunk beds with a lock for 3 people, and the shower room and toilet were clean and comfortable. At night, I brought my own food, and in the morning I had a hot dog and coffee for 500 yen, and it was delicious. There is also a convenience store about a 3 minute walk away.Above all, the couple were very polite and kind, and we had fun talking to each other, and we were really taken care of. We had a wonderful time.I will go again. thank you very much.

I've stayed at many guesthouses and riders' houses, but this was the best. The shop owner and his wife were very kind. My check-in time was delayed due to some trouble, but they accommodated me without making any apologies. They will also give you appropriate advice when you are unsure about touring routes. I felt so comfortable that I ended up staying two days in a row. I also wanted to use it when I went to Amakusa.

Thank you for your help again for the first time in about a year.As always, I was greeted with a pleasant and warm welcome.I got carried away and ended up staying with both of you until late, and the next morning you had to do beautification work at the village. It must have been really tough, right? I'm sorry. However, we had a very enjoyable night. I believe that staying at Surfrider is the only way to have such a fun night on your trip.Thank you for your help again!Hotels with private rooms with locks are good, but please be brave and try staying at this guesthouse. An impression you have never experienced is waiting for you!

Junko and Takafumi are delightful, wonderful hosts. My husband and I stayed while we were cycle touring around Southern Japan. We particularly wanted to explore Amakusa And the gorgeous islands in the area. The people on Amakusa Island are beautiful. Very friendly and very kind. We have been given free food by locals who have wanted to stop, chat and welcome us to the Island. Junko and Takafumi epitomised what makes the island such a wonderful experience to travel. They were incredibly attentive and wanted to help in any way possible. Their accommodation is very welcoming and incredibly well set up for any guest travelling through the area. Our two bikes were placed nicely on racks in the garage, and we had a section of grass where we could put up our tent.We had use of the shower facilities and the lovely lounge area. There is a big table with access to a couch, chair, record player and a guitar. In the garage there is a microwave, grill and jug to help with cooking your own food if you bring it.The sleeping options are upstairs. Great bunk style options designed by the hosts. There are great upstairs bunks that I think any young child would delight in - like their own little haven in the sky. I’m 52, and could easily access the top bunks via the ladder. We shared soncho, stories and time in the evening with the lovely hosts. It was interesting hearing their stories and chatting. Such people friendly hosts.A massive surprise and delight was the amazing breakfast that Junko prepared for us. She baked her own bread the night before as we were served an amazing hotdog for breakfast, along with a great coffee.I wish Junko and Takafumi every success with their accommodation. They deserve many guests as they are so willing to help and accommodate in any way. We would like to highly recommend them as an accommodation option if you are travelling in this area.

This is the most perfect place we stayed in during a two month cycle tour of Japan. Conveniently located on the Amakusa cycle routes, we were greeted by Kashiwabara-San and our bikes were stored on stands in the garage. The hostel is immaculate and completely awesome. We enjoyed a restful evening having a chat and enjoying Amakusa Sochu. The beds are cosy and we slept so well. Breakfast and coffee were also a 10/10. If everywhere you stay was like this you would want to travel forever. We are spoiled now - I don’t think anywhere else will be quite like Shimago Surfriders!
