Lodge Nutapukaushipe, which I have dreamed of for over 20 years. This year, my wish finally came true and I was able to stay overnight.I am very grateful that the accommodation was as wonderful as I imagined, or even better than I imagined. From the indoor bath that is fed by a rich source of water, to the changing room, to the impressive open-air bath, and even among the secret hot springs of Asahidake Onsen, it has a completely log house exterior that makes it stand out.The day before was cloudy, but the next morning I could see Mt. Asahidake beautifully from my room window. Also, the food cooked by his wife was delicious! There were many people climbing the mountain, so there was plenty of volume.A variety of side dishes, soup stock, freshly cooked rice, and fresh vegetables...it's a great feast. You can walk from the inn to the visitor center and ropeway station. It's also good to get hungry by climbing mountains and taking walks. The inside of the building, which uses the curves and scales of wood, is a sight to behold, and the musical instruments and miscellaneous goods placed here and there remind us of the sense and versatility of the owner. This is a one-of-a-kind inn that you will want to visit over and over again.

It is recommended because you can spend a quiet time. Although it wasn't luxurious, the food was delicious. The hot springs are also wonderful, so I would like to stay there again.I visited again in July 2022. I didn't notice it last time, but this time I was able to safely take a bath in the hidden open-air bath (lol) ♪ Since I was climbing the mountain early in the morning, I had rice balls made for me, and they were delicious.I stayed there for the third time in July 2024. The cost of lodging has increased a little to 10,000 yen for one night and two meals, but the hot springs and delicious food were as soothing as ever. I think it is a good accommodation with good cost performance even if the price has gone up a little.

One of the most magical places we've ever stayed.Built by the current owners many decades ago - this mountain onsen lodge is a Miyazaki dream. It blends traditional Japanese architecture with what might best be described as a great enthusiasm for the beauty of wood. You can feel the love in everything, from the hand-carved wooden place markers for meals, through to the homemade locks on the onsen cabinets. Everything feels special and unique.Whilst the husband (Napasan) has now sadly passed away, the place is still run by the lovely, kind wife (Mariko), who still makes it feel like a very special home away from home. The onsen itself is incredibly beautiful, there are tens of musical instruments scattered around the house (which the owner encourages people to play if they know how), the regular Japanese guests were (in our experience) so friendly, and it's also just an 8 minute walk up to the ropeway to begin an adventure in the mountains. We'll be back in another season.

They have hot spring water going all over the footpath (probably to melt snow). This has created a really slippery surface complete with algae and slime. My friend slipped over and himself hurt. The owners clearly know that they've created a dangerous situation but do not care.Hot spring water flows all over the sidewalk (probably to melt the snow). As a result, algae and slime grow, making the road surface very slippery. My friend slipped and got injured. The owner is clearly aware that he has created a dangerous situation, but he doesn't care. I plan to notify local authorities.

Great base for exploring the National Park. Walking distance to the ropeway and numerous hikes. Amazing food, beautiful onsen and lovely host. Need to call for reservations but they speak enough English to help you book.
