We stayed there with 2 kids(3 and 5y) with other couple with same age kids and no meal option. I am Japanese. My friends from overseas found this place and we didn't plan to stay there but were browsing where to stay that night. Once I checked inside, we decided to stay.Despite this is a 1 star hotel, I was amazed how hotel is clean, have a nice traditional atmosphere and the host was really kind and helpful. The shared bath(you can lock it when you use.) was not too crowded so that we could use when we needed.Kids loved the stairs ups and down to play around. The room is traditional style so not much sound proof but we didn't mind much.Plenty of option to eat outside if you like, but we have small kids so it was enough for us buying food at the nearest convenience store and enjoyed it in the room.If you come from overseas and looking for some traditional hotel experience (doesn't need to be fancy) this is the best place to stay. I highly recommend and I'd stay again when I visit the area. :) We really really enjoyed it.

The guest rooms are traditional Japanese-style rooms. But it's clean and calming. You'll want to lounge around on the tatami mats while drinking tea in your room. There's a convenience store right next door, so it might be a good idea to stock up on alcohol and snacks at night. The entrance has been renovated and has a modern Japanese feel. You can enjoy both new construction and old-fashioned construction. I was surprised that it was a card key type. The bath is small, but you can enjoy a relaxing soak. There seems to be a separate shower room as well.

Due to the sudden heavy snowfall, I was able to stay cheaply even without a reservation (^^)

The host is very knowledgeable about tourism in Shimane. We also had a great time talking about sake, oden, and cars. I can't believe there's an inn like this near the station! There seemed to be a lot of tourists, but I stayed there for business purposes. By the way, you can definitely ask the host about the delicious restaurants near the inn.
