Excellent accommodation with no shortage of kindness, cleanliness, or serviceA hostel that matches Soungyo Bridge, unlike other hotels nearby. The facility is cleaned every day to the point that there is no dirty spot anywhere, and the friendliness of the staff is satisfactory enough to make you want to visit this place again.

▪️Usage dateSeptember 2024▪️Accommodation fee5,300 yen (no meals) *via Booking.com▪️Access1km from Sounkyo bus stop, about 20 minutes walk. There are no convenience stores near the hotel, so it's a good idea to stock up at Secoma near the bus stop.◾️Food and drinks providedAt the hostel,・Curry for dinner・Alcohol can and snacks for dinner・Breakfast rice ball setWe provide this service, so you can come empty-handed.▪️About rooms and facilities・6 dormitory rooms, 6 private rooms・Dormitory is for 8 people per room with 4 bunk beds・Toilets and shower rooms are for men on the 1st floor and for women on the 2nd floor.・Common space has manga, books, TV, and free drinks (hojicha, coffee)・Washing machine is 200 yen for 29 minutes, detergent is 100 yen・Dryer is 100 yen for 10 minutes・Toothbrushing set costs 100 yen・Light and outlet x 1 in the dormitory・There is a luggage storage space in the dormitory that is large enough to store a backpack.・There are hangers and poles for hanging things inside the dormitory.・Bedding includes mat, comforter x 1, pillow x 1, sheets・You can set the sheets yourself for the pillow, mattress, and comforter (place between yourself and the comforter) and return them at check-out.・There are 12 valuables lockers on the 1st floor for storing small items. If you are worried about your luggage in the dormitory, it is a good idea to leave it here. First come first served.・Since there are many climbers, you can hear noises from early morning as they prepare for departure.▪️Bathnone. Shower only.If you want to take a bath, there is a discount coupon at the front desk that allows you to take a day trip bath at a super nearby hot spring inn for 800 yen. In fact, it's a hot spring area, so if you have time, you should definitely take a dip.・1 minute walk from Asayotei (reception until 7pm, 2 types of baths, sauna available)・Hotel Taisetsu, 2 minutes walk (reception until 9pm, 3 types of baths, sauna available)*I will post a photo. If you only have to go to one, I recommend Hotel Daisetsu.▪️OverviewIt doesn't seem to use dynamic pricing, so you can stay there for a reasonable price even on a three-day weekend in the middle of the fall foliage season, so if you don't mind staying in a dormitory, this is a hidden gem.Not only can you use it before or after climbing, but you can also use it as a base for touring Sounkyo hot springs.Although I didn't mention it above, you can also use the day trip bath at the Asahi Resort Hotel, which is a 20-minute walk away, at a discounted price of 800 yen, so you can visit all three facilities for 2,400 yen instead of the regular price of 3,730 yen. Also, as others have written, the staff is extremely friendly and nice.

Had a private room but it had a funny smell and we couldn’t open the window since there was no net and bugs were coming in.Also the dryer upstairs was broken so there was only one dryer available which made it a bit tricky but staff made sure to take out the dry clothes from it if no one claimed them.Bathroom was also okay but not the best. Also thin walls so easy to hear everything from outside the door.Highlights was the staff which was very nice (one of them offered me from his personal milk cartoon for my morning coffee) and location which is very close to the cable carBut other than that it was a bit of a rough stay

It was midsummer and there was only a fan in the room, so it was a little hot during the day. It's cool at night, so just a fan is fine.

The predecessor was a youth hostel built in the 1960s, and I think it is a valuable accommodation facility that conveys the atmosphere of the Showa period when the crab tribe was at its peak.

Had a really pleasant stay here which helped make my visit to Kurodake really lovely. The staff understand English well, and try to provide the best information they can... the atmosphere is friendly and even lively in the evenings. There was little to complain about, everything so well equipped, except maybe the shower room not having more outlets, but there are onsen everywhere here.
