Staying at Susanowa was a special experience that I will never forget in my life. First of all, the location of the facility is excellent, right in front of Susa Shrine, giving you the feeling of being part of the shrine grounds. This shrine is also known for being visited by Hiroyuki Ebara, who is famous nationwide as a spiritual counselor, and you can feel its sacredness firsthand. The owner of "Susanowa" is deeply knowledgeable about Shinto, and during our stay, he talked to us in detail about the history of the shrine and the teachings of Shinto. This private lodging facility itself is the home of the owner's wife, and I strongly feel that it is a place that strongly reflects the history and tradition of Susa Shrine. When you enter the Japanese-style room on the first floor, the first thing that catches your eye is a splendid Shinto altar. This altar has been cherished since the time of my grandfather, who was the chief priest of Susa Shrine, and its formality and sacredness can be felt at a glance. Additionally, the hanging scroll hanging in the alcove was a very valuable gift from the previous Senke chief priest of Izumo Taisha Shrine, and I was overwhelmed by its beauty and history. Spending time in this Japanese-style room was a special moment that calmed my mind and made me forget the hustle and bustle of everyday life. What's more, Susanowa is located in a quiet environment surrounded by nature, where you can feel the sacred atmosphere of a shrine, making it the perfect place to heal your mind and body. The heartfelt hospitality provided by the owner truly embodies the traditional Japanese spirit of hospitality, and the way they treat each and every guest with care leaves a strong impression. Also, during your stay at Susanowa, it is very easy to visit Susa Shrine, and by visiting the shrine during the quiet hours of the morning, you can have a deeper time of prayer and meditation. I did. Such a valuable experience cannot be had anywhere else.Furthermore, those who visit Izumo Taisha Shrine are also encouraged to visit Susa Shrine, which is dedicated to the deity Susatsu. After experiencing the solemn atmosphere of Izumo Taisha Shrine, you will experience an even greater sense of spiritual fulfillment by experiencing the divine virtues of Susaku-sama.Lastly, the owner's YouTube channel is also a must-see. Valuable information about Susanowa and Susa Shrine is disseminated, allowing you to get a deep understanding of its atmosphere and history before visiting. There is a wealth of visual information, so be sure to check it out as a reference before your visit.Overall, Susanowa is more than just a lodging facility, it is a place to soothe the mind and soul. This facility, where you can spend time surrounded by silence and beauty while feeling the deep history and culture rooted in Shintoism, is the perfect place to heal the fatigue of everyday life and gain new energy. This is the best private lodging facility that will make you want to visit again.

A 100-year-old building. I could feel the history in the mud walls and handrails from back then. The interior and exterior have been beautifully renovated, and I was impressed by the skill of the craftsmen who did the work. The owner and his wife made us feel very welcome, and for breakfast we had hot sandwiches and coffee from the cafe menu. It was so delicious that I ended up ordering more. As it is the home of Susa Shrine, the history and story behind it was very interesting. There's also a stream next door that kids will enjoy, so I'd like to come back next summer, with kids playing in the river and having a BBQ as one of my goals.

We stayed with 2 adults and 4 children. The town of Susa is a wonderful town, with a rich natural environment, where you can play in the river that flows next to the shrine of Amaterasu, take a bath, and enjoy BBQ. I think this is the only inn you'll find anywhere in Japan. Even though we had children with us, the owner was warm, taught us a lot of things despite his busy schedule, and supported us. I would definitely like to go again. Thank you very much from the bottom of my heart.

I saw the reviews here and asked if I could relax here. It's true that it's a guesthouse where you can stay without meals, but it felt like you were renting out a room in a house where a family lived. (I had two elementary school children, and they were cute, but they had to share the sink, kitchen, and bathroom, so I had to be careful about their time.)I thought it would be nice to be able to share such information in advance.I couldn't tell the difference between my family's belongings and the accommodation's belongings, and they were placed in a cluttered mess, so I didn't know which ones to use, so I was fidgety with everything, went to bed, and left early.Hasn't something like that happened before?Even though I was staying overnight without meals, I wanted a little more hospitality.

"I'm home!" is the inn where you feel like you've come home.Susa Shrine is right in front of you, Amaterasu Omikami is right next to you (maybe even on the same premises), making it an irresistible location for god lovers. The space is so comfortable that just staying here will purify your soul! That's right, there are two hot spring outdoor baths nearby that will keep you warm ♨This is my favorite inn in Japan where you can enjoy luxurious time doing nothing.
