At an inn that cherishes things that have continued from ancient times, I received the most courteous service from the waitress I've ever had. The walls are thin and you can hear people talking in the next room, but I think this is meant to be a quiet place to stay.

However, I did not stay there. I saw it from the outside because it's a filming location for my favorite movie. I would like to stay there someday. A masterpiece of wooden architecture

We stayed during the cherry blossom season. From the time we arrived to the time we left, we were treated to the kind hospitality typical of a Japanese inn, and we had a special time.Since it was my first time staying there, I was given a room with a good view of the cherry blossoms. It was a wonderful experience and I would like to go again.

I have been interested in this inn for a long time. The building is a cultural property, the hot springs flow straight from the source, and the traditional Aizu food was great.

This truly is a diamond amongst the hidden gems of Japan. My partner and I stayed here from July 15th to 19th - quite a long stay for an onsen resort, but it was well worth it, because it was a truly magical experience. The staff are very welcoming, and seem truly happy (even excited) to accommodate us, despite our foreign nature. The staff had mixed levels of English, but we were always able to come to an understanding, albeit with the occasional assistance of google translate. They were also happy to listen to us ramble in our own very bad Japanese. The food was excellent, and the property was just stunning. The beatiful wood, stone and compacted earth building was beyond belief, and the gardens were a sight to behold. The gardens also boast fireflies, though only a few.The baths were all amazing, and our room "Take" (Or "Bamboo") had a private onsen as well.We found the "Saru" hotspring to be the most favourable.Note that there are no shared mixed bathing facilities here, only gender segregated, however if your room does not have a dedicated private Onsen, there are some single use onsen that you can use as a mixed group. These Onsen have locking doors, and are provided on a first-come-first-serve basis. In terms of location, It's a little bit out of the way, we hired a car from Koriyama station and drove, but this gave us access to other things to see in the area.Unfortunately, for those with mobility issues, I would have to recommend against this place, as there are stairs everywhere and no alternatives. I have mild ankle and knee problems, and those alone made some trips in and out a bit difficult, but I knew what to expect, and was willing to work past this inconvenience. For everybody else, if you get the chance to visit this place, I cannot recommend it enough. I've spent a total of 3 months in Japan, staying at multiple Onsen in Honshu and Kyushu, and this one is the best by a long shot.

〇Third visit. I stayed there for the first time in the summer.Unlike winter, you can also take a walk in the garden. The food was a summer menu, and the main dish was local summer vegetables, and it was delicious. One of the great things about Japanese-style houses is that you can feel the seasons by opening the doors freely. You can feel the summer in Aizu.A registered intangible cultural property inn. I stay there every year.Last year there were snow candles, but there were none this year due to the warm winter. In the winter, staying at an inn is cold from the inside out, but you can really appreciate the value of hot springs. It is a bath that is not flashy, befitting the Aizu Clan's resort. The latest bath towels are always available, and you can feel the care taken by the inn. There are three types of baths, but Kitsune no Yu (44℃) is the best. The cuisine is Aizu cuisine, with consistent and robust Aizu cuisine. Carp is the star of the dish, but each dish is exquisite and takes full advantage of the ingredients.I think this inn is representative of Higashiyama Onsen's simplicity and robustness.
